Talking To Pastries

image When you’re a sleep deprived mother of a newborn, you tend to do weird things…

We have some wonderful friends who have been bringing us delicous meals for the past few weeks. Pastas, soups, pork chops, salads and dessert.

Dessert. Mmmm....

Have I mentioned that my will power ends at my front door? I’m great at not buying sweets at the store, but if it makes it into my house....forget it.

So, last night I woke up to feed my son. After I put him back to bed, I went into the kitchen to get some water and as I did, I heard (or at least I think I did) something saying…

“eat me....eat me.”

I turned to see a pan of delicious Neiman Marcus bars sitting on the counter. I’m pretty sure there was a halo of heavenly light shining on them as well.

So what did I do?

I talked back, of course. I said:

“No! I’m am NOT going to eat you!”

Feeling satisfied and vindicated against temptation, I turned and went back to my room.

It didn’t occur to me until the morning that normal people don’t talk to pastries at 4:00 in the morning…

On a scale of 1-10 (1 being low and 10 being high) where is your will power against sweets?
