What Were You Doing At 18?

Wow. Not just a great song, but amazing spiritual depth for an 18 year old. I’ve been listening to Bethany Dillon’s new cd all week. I highly recommend it.

Is there any new music you recommend?

Kat. I know this is off subject. But I wanted to as a favor. If you find it in your little new-mommy heart...could you link me?

I added you if that is okay.

But I am trying to drive up traffic to my new site (moved from xanga to blogger) and I would appreciate all the help I could get.

You rock!

Steven,
Consider yourself linked. By the way, I didn’t see an RSS feed on your blog. Do you plan to add one or did I just miss it?

I actualy have heard of Dave Barnes. I love his music - certainly one of my favorites.

Anyone else you recommend?

Kristin,
Are there any artists you recommend?

Kat~ I listen to what my husband brings home or buys via i tunes.  I love music, but he’s constantly emmersed in it, and is the one to ask!  We’ve recently been listening to Cold war kids, and an instrumental/ digital mix cd our friend made us.  Brody put a clip of his music on his blog, I think it’s titled Glo worm.

I don’t know how new it is, so please forgive me if it’s ancient history.  My husband got me hooked on “Sound of Melodies” by Leeland.  He was 17 when he recorded the album a year ago.

I’m sort of out of touch with new music right now, so I don’t have any to recommend. But I do appreciate your blog and others, where I get to find it.

By the way, at age 18 I graduated high school, got married, and five days later (five days after my 19th birthday, that is) my daughter was born.

Truevyne,
I’ve heard of Leeland but I haven’t really taken the time to listen to them. I’ll have to do that. Thanks for the reminder!

C-Hammer,
Wow. That was a very busy year for you!

I like Leeland.  I saw them in concert last September and they have a good stage presence.  Honestly, when I listen to the music he wrote for Sound of Melodies I think it sounds a little, I don’t know, young/undeveloped/immature.  But, it also sounds like someone who has a great deal of talent that could well be amazing as his writing matures.  I got their CD for Christmas, by request, so I must have liked what I heard.

Other new music . . . I really like the song “The Cut” from Jason Gray’s All the Lovely Losers (which I got from you, Kat, thanks again).  Deep lyrics, good sound.  I’m still a little undecided about some of his other songs; I got “Blessed Be” (from the same album) as a free download and a good bit of the sound seems just like “Show You Love” from Jars of Clay.  A decent song, also with some good lyrics, but unoriginal sound.

Hi Kat, I don’t usually comment on OLD posts but maybe you will see this!  I was doing a search on Leeland cause I saw him last night opening for Casting Crowns and it was incredible.  I had been listening to Sounds of Melodies without realizing this KID wrote it!  Oh my gosh, I wanted to jump on stage and hug him, he’s precious, his heart for God is so real.  Anyhow I love your blog and read it all the time even if I don’t always comment!

(I am doing a post on the concert its not done yet)
