What Did You Do Saturday?

Our family was finally mostly heathly today so we went shopping and then took the girls to run around campus (we live near Baylor University).

Colleges are great places for small kids because you can go for walks and run around without having to worry about cars. When we got tired and hungry from our walking and exploring, we ate at the Chili’s on campus.

We went home for the girls’ afternoon naps and when they woke up we went for a bike ride and enjoyed the gorgeous weather (it was in the 60’s today).

After being cooped up in the house and sick for almost two weeks, today was gloriously refreshing.

How was your Saturday? What did you do?

Don’t want to put you to sleep with the details: mostly ironing, exercise, mending, cleaning, and then hosting a party for my daughter and eight other of her 13 year-old friends.  Talk about loud.

Watched Seven Samurai, a 3 1/2 hour long black and white Japanese film from 1954 on the big screen (at a local indie theater), and then saw Holly Williams (Hank Jr.’s daughter), one of my favorite singers, in concert.  A good day all around.

Slept for at least half of the day.  Then we had dinner with my little sister for her birthday and saw Pan’s Labyrinth.  SEE IT.

I went to a friend’s baby shower that had a decidedly Mexican feel.  It was good fun, though much longer than I expected!

I love the diversity of comments!

Michelle,
I hope you’re daughter had a great time. Was it her birthday? I SO cannot imagine my daughters being 13, but I’m sure it will be here before I know it.

Stephen,
I think I’ve heard you talk about Holly William’s before. I’ll have to check her out.

I have to confess, as much as I actually do love Waco, I’m slightly jealous of all the fun concerts you must have access to in Nashville.

Cach,
Slept for half the day? Enjoy it, because when the kids come the sleep goes…
Sleeping for half the day sounds both glorious and very foreign.

Amy,
Now was it actually a shower for a hispanic woman or were they just doing a Mexican theme? Being from Deep South Texas (we often ate dinner across the border), I have to suppress a giggle sometimes when I go the Mexican themed things. They’re so...not real.

On the other hand, if it was actually a shower for a Mexican family.....yum....I’ll bet there was some good food there. There is nothing better than homemade Mexican food. Y-U-M (Now look what you did, Amy… You got the pregnant woman hungry....)
grin

I finished building a deck for my inlaws (part of a Christmas present).  My legs and back hurt.  But it’s a good hurt.

Hi Kat,

She’s actually Mexican (or Mexican-American)!  The food was very yummy, you’re right, they really cooked up a feast.  It was just so Latin, though, you know, the way nothing got started until 2 hours after we got there!
