Free Music and Holiday Plans

A couple of TSLOK readers (yes, that’s the acronym for The Secret Life of Kat) have emailed me to let me know they have music they’d like to share with you.
Firstly, John, from Silencing the Stones, is offering their latest EP for free at their Myspace page. Check it out.
Secondly, Paul (of Mylon Lefevre and Broken Heart fame) and his wife have written and recorded a lovely Christmas song and they’re offering it for free on their website. Go download it now so you’ll be all set for the Christmas season (which, according to my local grocery store, starts before Thanksgiving.)
Speaking of Turkey Day, my parents and my brother and his family are coming here for Thanksgiving. It’s my first time to host a holiday. It’s going to be an absolute blast.
What are your Thanksgiving plans?

The family of the lovely Katherine (I will no longer use “Kat” for my lovely wife due to potential confusion) on Thursday, my family on Fri, and hunting with my son on the weekend.
Looks like two lovely days in the metropolis of Waco! YEEEEAAAAHHHHHH!

Happy Thanksgiving KAT!!! Please give my love to all of your family. I will be eating with every American within a 10 miles radius. I was only responsible for making a pumpkin cake. I hope it turns out!
Love ya!

Happy Thanksgiving, Kat. My time has consisted of eating with my family, meeting new family (upcoming blog), and frolicking in the snow in Abilene, Texas. Yes, it snowed here. Is snowing here. Has been pretty much non-stop for the last 12 hours. Lotsa fun!

For some reason, when I see TSLOK, I think of Klingon.
Amber and I walked around Central Park all day and at the end, we sat up on a big stone in the middle of the park and watched the leaves fall for an hour or so.
C.P. was beautimus but we really missed our family this year. I have a hole in my heart and belly where my mom’s cornbread dressing should be…

Jamee,
I enjoyed my first time hosting the holiday get together as well. I hope you had a nice time at your in laws.
Deemus,
Wow. That’s a pretty busy weekend. You must have been pretty cold and wet on your hunting trip, consider the weather we’ve had lately…
Lilia,
I’m sure your pumpkin pie was delicious. We miss you around here...Did you have a nice holiday?
Euphrony,
Happy Thanksgiving to you too! Snow? Too cool! I must say it was wonderful, cold, wet weather this weekend. We even got to put on a fire and roast marshmallows. Yum.
Seth,
Klingon. Interesting.
That sounds like a really sweet way to spend the holiday although I’m sure it’s tough not to be with family. Perhaps your mom can fedex you some left overs…
By the way, I loved your recent Subway post…

Hope your Thanksgiving was the blast you expected. My wife and I hosted for another orphaned family and the former owner of our house, who’s retired without family around. It was pleasant and my wife went all out. I was amazed at what she did almost single-handedly. I was banned from the kitchen and told to watch the kids and take care of a project or two around the house while she cooked for a day and a half straight. While I enjoy baking pies and cooking my favorite dishes, everything she made was better than what I can do, which was (I think) the point. Have I bragged on my wife enough. She made all but one of my favorite dishes from childhood, plus all her faves and threw in a couple new ones to round it out.

It was a great weekend. It was very cold in west Texas. We had a blizzard with about 4-6 inches where we hunted at. Every thing got wet (snow melts) and we had our stuff all over the tahoe trying to dry it out on the way back to Big D.
But I treasure those times with my son (15) when we can speak freely and openly. He is not perfect, but he makes me proud of the decisions he makes. Sometimes that parent stuff “takes” and sometimes it does not. It feels good when it does.
