Week 1 Without My Computer

It’s been almost a week since I decided to not work on my computer while my kids are awake.

Wow. Apparently, I got a WHOLE lot done when I’d just check my email “real quick.”

Now that I only have my computer for a couple hours a day, I’m completely swamped with email, projects and all things social media.

Just when I thought I’d laid down everything I could, I find I need to lay down even more.

I know that someday I’ll have plenty of time to do as I wish. I’ll be able to spend as much time blogging and designing as I’d like. I’ll be able to have business meetings, attend conferences and spend loads of money at office supply stores. (Yes, these things sound like lots fun to me...)

But for now, I’m laying all that down. Whatever it takes.

Because I’m after more than trying to make strangers think I’m cool. I’m after more than having a successful business.  I’m after more than having a really popular blog.

I’m after the world changing potential that God has given to the three little people sleeping down the hall.

That’s what I’m after.

Oh my. This IS convicting. I’ve been working on the same issues - three beautiful kids that need mom during the day, which explains why mom is finally on the internet at 10:25pm. smile

Great post, Kat - and an excellent reminder for us all.

"to every thing there is a season...”

I have been teaching my wife how to use email for the last couple of months.  She has just refused in the past because she was “too busy to mess with that stuff.”

She did offer last week to let me cook dinner so she could check her email.  I declined.  She didn’t care.

More parents should put thier kids before themselves. You’re doing a wonderful thing.

Good for you...When we had our kids, we knew we only had them for a short 18 or so years and then we would have time to ourselves.  We have never regretted that.  We now have plenty of time to do whatever we want, mostly spend time with the grands.

Good for you, Kat!  It’s great that you realize your priorities-->"I’m after the world changing potential that God has given to the three little people sleeping down the hall.” I love that!  You are such a good mom.  smile
