We Got Ourselves A Naaaahhhhder!!!

My son loves the movie Cars. It’s his testosterone retreat from the pixie and pink he’s surrounded by having two sisters.
Let’s just say he’s seen it a “few” times.
So last night as he was going to bed, Jimmy turned on his bedtime music. And as soon as it started playing, my two year old boy said (with the same intonations used in the movie), “Dad! We got ourselves a nodder!”
So. Stinking. Hilarious.

One of my favorite movie scenes is ALL of Princess Bride. Partially because it’s a really fun movie and partially because I watched it will my friends all the time and have so many great memories associated with it.

My youngest son Jesse (almost 5) spent about 3 of his years obsessed with Cars! He quotes the movie all the time as well- one day I was working and heard him approaching my office so I pretended I was asleep. “Wake up sleeping beauty”, he yells in my ear!
Just this weekend I replaced his Lightning Mcqueen race car bed with a regular bed frame. It was bittersweet for all of us, but he wanted to have a regular bed like his older brothers. Now I have this gigantic race car bed frame to try and sell on Craigslist or something.
re: movies, Princess Bride is in my top 5 of all time. I would have to put ‘The Jerk’ at the top of that list, and would also put E.T. near it as well.

EVERYTHING in our lives revolves around Cars right now. We “vroom” toy cars from the movie, we read “Mater the Greater” and “El Materdor” books before bed, and while driving we look for “Frank” (The bull tractor) in the fields. I even heard that California Adventures at Disneyland is going to completely revamp the park based on Cars and the upcoming sequel. Awesome.

My two-year old also loves “CARS”. Although, it’s been heavily influenced by his father that he should have this love. My husband has started the collection of Mattel CARS cars for my little guy and just this past Christmas he added Frank, Ramone and a few others to his collection. He doesn’t quote lines from the movie yet though.
As for myself, Princess Bride rules and is an all time favorite to quote from. I do tend to judge people on whether than can finish/join in on quotes with me. It was a major requirement for getting married that my husband to know how to properly answer the statement at good-byes: “Have fun stormin’ the castle!”

Cars is Larry’s finest work to date. I have seen that movie about 40 times, really. My kids love it.
