Thoughts on Motherhood from Christy Nockels (and a FREE song)

Really. I’m so excited to share this video with you. I’ve been watching it for a few weeks now and I’ve been deeply inspired and encouraged by it.

The journey of motherhood can be solitary. Everyone wants to be the perfect mom, even though they’re not. And we’re all left thinking that everyone ELSE actually is.

The Video

I love the insights Christy shares and I especially appreciate her realness. Even rockstar moms have to lock themselves in their rooms for a few moments of peace. I hope and pray that you are as encouraged as I have been by her words…

(This is part 1 of the video. I’ll post part 2 tomorrow.)

The FREE Song

But wait! There’s more!

Christy’s giving away a free copy of her album’s title song Life Light Up. To download it, just click here.

It’s been a really powerful song in my life these past few weeks - kind of an anthem of who I want to be.

Get the CD

I’m also giving away another copy of the CD today. To enter the giveaway, just leave a comment and answer one of these questions:
1. What bit of advice impacted you the most from this video?

or if you’re not a mom and couldn’t relate to the video at all...

2. Tell me how hot it was yesterday where you live. It was 103 here (for the millionth day in a row) and that’s just ridiculous.

Spread the Word

If you find the video encouraging, I encourage you to copy the embed code and put it on your own blog. If you don’t have a blog, please send your mom friends here or email the video link to them. We need more truth and wisdom spoken into the lives of young moms.

So good - thanks for sharing!  I love the quote “let the glorious invade the mundane” especially as we are having a pajama day today.  That will probably be in my mind for a lifetime.

I think I liked the reminder that I can’t, but God can.

I can get caught up a lot in finding my self-worth in how competent I am.  When I fail, I take it personally, and I can easily fall into bad moods and depression.

But when I remember that my flesh is completely incompetent (even when it looks successful to the world), I can have the freedom to not have to rely on myself anymore.  It takes a lot of pressure off of me, and puts it on someone who is all-powerful and always able.

Another quote I’ve heard along these lines is “God doesn’t call me to successful, only faithful.”

87 yesterday, which is about as hot as it gets here.  It has never reached 100 where I live.  Life at 7000’ rocks.

I love this video!  Can’t wait for part two tomorrow.

The part that stuck with me the most is where she says “...I can’t mother today.  But the holy spirit can mother through me...”

Isn’t that the truth?  Certainly not through MY strength.  Thanks for posting this!

I really appreciate this video.  The statement that impacted me the most was “I can be an amazing mother or wife through the Holy Spirit”.  Thank you for reminding me to pray that every day.

so, it was quite warm here in Germany - 85 degrees, which without AC is quite warm!  i absolutely LOVE summer in Germany - its beautiful, soemtimes warm, sometimes cool, and many times sunny!  the view from my balcony toward the sunset in the evenings is truly amazing.  i will miss this place!

well, though I am not a mom…

i prayed this morning that I would walk in the spirit and to not bring glory to my mundane activities.  That was a great reminder!

And though it is not fair, todays high was 80!

i know you might not be able to give me the cd , but i thought i would try.

Finally got around to watching this. It’s great. That’s wonderful to know that we can ask the Holy Spirit to help us mother.

So, I’m not a mom yet, and I won’t be for awhile yet. But the idea of bringing the glorious into the mundane still really spoke to me.

As a student, I often struggle with how to serve God, worship Him, and draw near to him on a daily basis. I babysit in the morning, take the bus to campus, go to class, come home, do homework, etc etc. I feel as though I’m just sort of “hanging out” in college most days. Obviously, I go to Bible study, outreaches, church, etc. But how do I serve God in-between all that?

I was JUST talking to my boyfriend a few days ago about how I feel like I’m just not doing anything exciting enough. Is become a teacher and a mom enough for me? But because it is what God has called me to, it certainly can be. I just need to learn to bring the glorious into the mundane. smile
