The 40 Day Fast: The Starting Line

This is the picture that started The 40 Day Fast.
And that is the little girl that broke my heart.
How could I see her pain and not do something about it?
How can I know that this very minute there is a child somewhere in the world, starving - in their weeping mother’s arms and not be moved?
In all honesty, I’m usually moved...but then I move on.
It’s hard for me to go from inspiration to action. And it makes me mad and sad that I think it’s hard.
Too often, I wait for other things to move me. A movie. A song. A book. ....a picture.
But I think God brings those things into our lives, not to move us to action, but to bring us to the line.
The line where we, ourselves, have to decide that there are things in this world that are more important than our comfort.
Through the course of this 40 day fast, I hope we’ll all be challenged to step across that line.

You can also take action by sponsoring a child. It’s amazing because we can do that here. It’s incredible the joy you feel in giving to a child and knowing that you may have saved their lives and probably did.
There’s also opportunity at Christmas for Operation Christmas child and many organizations.
Whatever you give is better than not giving at all. I’ve cried many times over the children over in Africa and other parts in the world who are starving to death. When I see this picture I think that I would run over to this child pick it up in my arms and feed it and nurture it back to life. Even if others said it was hopeless. In so many ways I see the enemy at work in this picture, I see how the enemy tries to steal this precious child from off the face of the earth and how God through all of us can scoop down and rescue an orphan. Where there’s death God can bring life.
Yes, thank you for doing your 40 day fast to learn God’s heart. God loves the poor. God will not forget you in your time of need, because you have remembered them.
