The Greatest Alarm Clock In The World

The past few mornings we’ve been awakened in the most wonderful way possible. This morning it went something like this:

As I’m dreaming about being in college and faking sickness to get out of a test that I completely forgot to study for (actually, I had forgotten about the class as a whole and hadn’t attended in weeks only to return on the day of a huge exam. Interpretations anyone?), I faintly awake to the sound of children singing.

As the fog lifts, I begin to recognize the song being sung: Jesus Loves Me. Then I realize the beautiful voices singing are those of my 2 and 4 year old little girls. I pry my eyes open to see them enter our room walking hand in hand and singing Jesus Loves Me with angelic little cherub faces. They come over to my side of the bed and sing a few lines and then walk over to my sweet husband and serenade him as well.

As soon as the song ends, they run out of the room and moments later, re-enter with my 2 year old singing Jesus Loves Me solo and my 4 year old “playing” the little Christmas decorative trumpet we had hanging on a door. They complete their vocal/instrumental duet and then run out again. When they re-enter my 2 year old is doing a Louie Armstrong impression on the trumpet while my 4 year old sings the final verse.

I can only imagine the discussions and rehearsals that went on in their room before they started their performance.

They then climbed into our bed and cuddled with us.

I really don’t think it gets any better than that.

(It will be interesting to see how things change around here once our little boy arrives...)
