3 long fun filled days
Please forgive me if my blogging is a bit sparse for the next couple days. We have a couple extra kids in the house this week.
I’m sure I’ll have some good blogging material when if I survive.
(4:33pm update: I just made 50 water balloons. 2 adults vs. 5 kids. FUN)
What’s the largest number of kids you’ve been in charge of at one time?

I used to babysit for a family with 8 kids - by myself. Those parents must have been crazy to ask me to babysit - I couldn’t even drive yet, but I took care of them all the time, so I must’ve done a great job! And nothing serious ever happened.

6 two year olds. But that was WAY easier than when I took care of 5 siblings! The two year olds played alone or together and had a great time whatever the activity was. The siblings FOUGHT with each other the entire time. Ugh.
I can’t wait to hear the reason behind this crazy house of yours and how it went!

If you count doing volunteer stuff at church, about 40 kids ages 5-11. I think those 4 and under count as two....

Every year we get together with college friends. Between 10 and 15 adults with around 30 kids under ten. Fun.

When I taught kids in Japan, I had classes of 8. That’s all fine and good, but we didn’t speak the same language, which just added to the fun.

I taught sunday school for ~10 years for age groups ranging from 3 year olds to 5th graders. The most I’ve supervised directly is probably 10-15 kids. I was a sunday school teacher supervisor for a few weeks in charge of 50-100 kids in grades 3-5. Fortunately, the lady in charge of the entire program saw how miserable I was and let me get back to teaching instead of supervising teachers. As a soccer referee, I’ve been in charge of 16 or so kids. A month ago I signed up to coach soccer. They made me a master coach in charge of ~30 kids and the assistant coaches at the U5 level. Hopefully, this goes better than supervising Sunday School teachers. I’ve never been much of a coordinator, preferring the personal interaction with kids that teaching affords to planning and organizing programs. A few weeks ago, 15 or so kids from 6th-12th grade came over to my house to film part of the Silmarillion. That doesn’t count though, because teenagers can pretty much supervise themselves. My wife, kids and I took a nap one Sunday afternoon when they were over and just let them pick up their props and let themselves out the door when they were done.
