Thanks for the great response to The 40 Day Fast! Here are the folks who have signed on so far. If I’ve left you off the list or you’re interested in being a part of The 40 Day Fast, just leave a comment here and let me know.

If you don’t have a blog, but you want to participate, you can guest post on my blog for the day of your fast.

Several others have expressed an interest but I wasn’t certain if that meant you wanted to participate, so I didn’t want to commit you by adding you to the list. If you ARE interested, please let me know.

The fast will start on June 22 and end on July 31.

Here are the requirements for those who want to participate:

1. Willingness to fast for 1 day (preferably just water if you are able, but if not, whatever works for you) The idea here is to sacrifice and develop an understanding of the struggle of others.

2. Willingness to research a cause/nation/need for your post on your fasting day.

3. Willingness to post a link to the fasting blogger each day - the idea here is repetition and unity. Our readers are more likely to take action when they see others taking action. By reading about a variety of causes/nations/needs they are more likely to identify with at least one.

4. Call your readers to action to join the fast on the 40th day and do something to take a long term stand against poverty.

So we have 11 fasters signed up and we need 29 more. If you think you’re readers might be interested, please let them know about it.

Tomorrow I’ll post a few more details and some prayer points as we prepare for The 40 Day Fast.

I am SO excited about making our blogging about something more than us. I’m excited about taking the step from inspiration to action. Thanks for being a part if it!

I saw this on Stephanie’s blog and I’m totally in if you’ll have me.  I’m on the job hunt right now, so I have “minimized my internet presence,” but I should have my blog back up by the time this all starts. Let me know what I need to do!

I DO want to participate.  Can I be excused from posting a link on my blog from July 1st-8th though?  I’ll be on vacation in of those poverty stricken countries (though much much better off than most) visiting family. I’m not sure how often I’ll be able to use the internet.

Sign me up please.  I’ll be happy to so whatever day you like except Fridays as that’s my big church day and I need the energy to lead worship for the weekend services.

I am a worship leader in Egypt, and our church is very involved in the huge community of Sudanese refugees here.  I’d love to highlight one or two of the projects we are involved in, whatever you think would be suitable or useful for this project.

What if you doubled only on the days that the original person was unable to blog? that way it wouldn’t take away from either blog.
