The 21 Day Challenge: Days 4 & 5

image I’m still not very good at getting my focused prayer time done in the morning. But I have noticed that I pray a lot more throughout the day and then the bulk at night (usually just before I write this post.)

3 Tips That Helped Me

Here are a couple things I’ve done to help me pray more for my kids:
1. I pray while I change my son’s diaper. I change his diaper a lot, so it’s a great reminder to pray for him and my girls. (Sometimes I pray outloud. Hopefully, God doesn’t mind the baby talk.)

2. I wrote down the things that I want to pray for each child on a 3x5 card and I carry those around with me so that when I’m sitting in the car or in the backyard watching them play, I can pull out the cards and easily continue praying through my list.

3. As I drive The Small Person to school, The Smaller Person and I both pray for her.

Nothing revolutionary, but just some small steps to help me to remember to pray more often for my wonderful kids.

How’s Your 21 Day Challenge Going?

So how’s your 21 Day Challenge Going?

I haven’t heard from some of you who initially jumped on board and I’m about to start sending emails to see what’s up...so you might want to start your challenge while there are still 21 days left in the month...you can do it!

Each day is getting a little bit harder for me, as we’ve moved into a new house.  As things get unpacked and used, I am reminded every night to try to pick up the kitchen before I retire to our bed (which is not yet put together!)…

Funny thing is, as it gets harder, it sort of gets easier, too.  I’ve never forgotten to address the kitchen sink so far!  I’m determined!

Great ideas, Kat!
Annie...you are awesome!  Keep going!
In an attempt at transparency: I might need a cattle prod! Still struggling to get off my duff here… I’ve only managed 3/5 days so far and those were lighter & shorter than they should/could have been. Now that we are home after being away this weekend, I’ve slipped into old patterns. Excuses have ranged from the heat to no work out clothes to chores.  Procrastination is poison!

I started walking our dog again Monday night when we got home from being out of town.  So far, so good...three nights in a row!

Going great, so far!  I have done two things in particular to help me conquer my lack-of-exercise ways.

1.  I registered for our half marathon and have paid the money.  I am also looking for shorter races this fall as smaller stepping stones.  I’d really like to finish these races without totally humiliating myself, so it’s great motivation.

2.  I placed 21 Post-It notes (numbered 1-21) on my refridgerator to remind me of this challenge.  Each day that I have completed my exercise, I take the corresponding sticky note off the fridge.  This may seem silly, but hey, it’s working.  I need large, visual reminders.

It’s going slow, going slow.  Every day I’ve done something but it is minimal.  A teacher at our school teaches an exercise class VERY CLOSE BY and I have a pass to go next week and a discount card if I sign up.  I plan to go on Monday afternoon.  No excuses...they have babysitting if I can’t leave my youngest at home with an older sibling.  No excuses!  Yay.

Those are good ideas Kat!

It’s going okay for me, my place that I pray has not been as consistent or the same time amount every day, but I am getting it in.  My baby is cutting teeth and waking up early every morning! The kids have completely adapted to their 21 day challenge, it’s awesome!

Here’s ‘nother couplea idears for ya.  When people email me or call me to ask for prayer, I do it right then and there, in email or on the phone.  As for praying for my children, God hears too much “CHANGE THAT CHILD!” from me. I realize it’s the listening prayer that changes us all.
