Taking A Week To Fulfill A Dream

Check One
I’ve always wanted to run an “athon” - anything that ended in “athon” - a half marathon, marathon, a triathalon.
Two weeks ago I did it. I checked it off my list.
It’s fun checking things off your life list.
So I’m going to do it again.
Check Two
I’ve always wanted to write a book. Just for fun.
So I’m taking this week off of blogging to write a book.
I know what you’re thinking, “A book in a week?”
I didn’t say I have any aspirations to get published or to win any awards. I just want to hold a book in my hands that has my name on it.
So, it might be a compilation of my favorite posts here, it might be about music, it might be about apostrophes.
You’ll just have to check back here next Monday and find out.
(Oh, and next Monday I’ll challenge you to follow one of your dreams and there will be cool prizes involved. Stay tuned.)
(And yes, I realize that I am somewhat insane. Thanks...)
So, what’s on your list?

Good for you!
But why not aspirations about getting published? But you are right; doing it for the fun of it should always come first, not only first, but REALLY first, as if you don’t care if it will ever get published, (even though deep down you really do. But at least it’s last in line.)

Do you realize you are somewhat ins… oh, nevermind.

I’d like to read your book! I love your writing style!

This is great, Kat! God bless your book-writing and dream-chasing.
A big one on my list is writing a screenplay. I feel like God is going to use that in my life. I just hope I’m a good enough riter.

I would also love to write a book. I feel some inspiration welling up…

Kat, I’m in awe. Happy writing!
I have a whole list of things to do before I die. The next one I’ll accomplish is going to Machu Piccu this summer. Woo-hoo!

Hi-- I found your site through TopBlogArea. I just fulfilled my dream of writing a book-- or at least getting a contract to write one. (Check out my post on this over on my blog.)
I literally did take about a week (and a few more days on top of that) to write an ebook this past Christmas. It was great and helped us out with Christmas money!!
Good goal-- enjoy your week!

That is awesome!!
I’d like to write a book one day. It’s definitely on the list. I just need...you know...something to write about.
Have a good week! I’m excited to see what comes out of it!

Seth,
Well, I guess it’s kind of like running my half marathon, I was happy just to run it, I didn’t really care about winning (good thing...)
I just want to write all my current thoughts out about a single subject: a book. I’m not trying to be humble or anything, but the idea of being published doesn’t really interest me. It just sounds stressful.
Amy,
Well, I’m not writing a novel. It’s barely a book. A booklet? Perhaps a really long note…
Cool Dad,
You can do it, you can do it. (Just use spell check...)
Travis,
Oh me, oh my. Your picture CRACKS me up. Ha!
TIA,
I have told so many people this week about your 0 makeup exam/grandmother saving policy. So funny…
Marybeth Whalen,
Congrats on your book! It sounds very interesting. I hope you’ll let us know when it’s done. I’d be happy to blog about it. It’s certainly a timely topic.
Thanks so much for stopping by!
superlindsey,
Well, this first book (ebook, booklet, long note...) will actually by kind of boring to many of my TSLOK readers because it’s all about musicians and their websites. I have a lot of people email me and ask me to give suggestions on their sites and so I thought I’d put it all together in an ebook. It’s something I’ve been meaning to do for years, but I’ve just never taken the time to do it.
I do have a few other topics I’d like to write on as soon as this one is done…

that’s so cool Kat…
Writing a book is on my list of things to do also, but I have some things to do before that.

Kristin,
It’s a little book. I thought I had a lot to say about the topic, but it turns out I preferred to be concise.
I AM really glad to finally put it all on paper, though!

Great attitude!
It is stressful, but who knows?
And what the heck! You did win! Just getting up off your can and doing it is winning in my book.
