STILL In Sacramento

I’ve been patient. Really. Well, sort of.
I thought, “Maybe FedEx doesn’t work on Saturdays. Maybe they don’t work on Sundays. Maybe they’re closed on New Year’s Day.”
It’s January 2nd and my iPod is STILL in Sacramento. It’s been there since the 27th.
I have nothing interesting or funny to say. I’m in the “depths of despair.”
(Can anyone tell me where that line is from?)
Do you have an iPod? Do you like it? I’ll live vicariously through you all until mine arrives in 2008.

Depths of despair...Anne of Green Gables??
I don’t have an ipod. And I’m sad there’s no USPS for the third day in a row.

Yes, Anne Shirley, I love my ipod though I got one three years ago and my model is starting to get a little dated. One thing I’d mention is that a couple months into my ipod ownership my docking station broke. I called ipod, gave them my serial number and they fedexed me a new one by the next day. They didn’t even ask me to return the broken one or anything. THAT’S customer service for you. Much better than the stinkin’ Palm company that I shall refrain from berating--because that wouldn’t be nice though it would be justified.

1053 Songs (4.86GB or 2 days, 23 hours, 35 minutes and 6 seconds of listening pleasure) . . .
4,049 pictures (5.08GB) . . .
61GB free space . . .
and I still have 100+ CDs to burn
(Don’t hate me. Please. I really feel for you in this purgatory of shipping and handling. I know you will go hog-wild once your beloved yet absent iPod arrives. Gloat all you want then.)

What sort of shipping was it—meaning, how many days did they promise it would take to get to you?
At some point (if you haven’t already) you should probably call or e-mail and make sure it hasn’t gotten lost.
Of course, I’m basing that on UPS, which is pretty good about up-to-the-minute updates on their tracking. Maybe FedEx isn’t as good and it really is on its way. If that’s the case, an inquiry probably wouldn’t hurt, as they’d be able to update you on its real progress, if the on-line tracking is not accurate.

Amy and Michelle - yes, it’s Anne of Green Gables. I love those books! ...and the movies.
Amy - for some reason when you mentioned that the USPS isn’t running today, it didn’t register in my brain because about an hour later I went to the post office only to find it closed. I don’t know what I was thinking…
Michelle - I’m so glad to hear you’ve enjoyed your iPod, you’ve had good service and that it’s still running three years later. I understand about Palm. I have a Zire 72 that I really want to love but it just doesn’t work like I want it to and the support at the Palm site is terrible. I’ve never seen a more un-user-friendly support forum. Apple’s support forums are excellent, but hopefully I won’t need them.
I actually have an ipod mini and a shuffle. My mini was one of the very first made and it died a couple years ago (I’ve learned it’s best not to buy a Revision A of an Apple product...or probably any product...best to buy a RevB and let them work the kinks out.) We’ve had our shuffle for about a year and a half and it works great...but I really want to be able to put more music on it....hence my iPod Video purchase.
Euphrony - I’m not jealous. I’m very happy for you and it warms my heart to know you’re enjoying it as much as I know I will....someday.
C-Hammer - It was shipped FedEx Ground, so it’s not “supposed” to arrive until tomorrow, but the delivery date says Thursday. In any case, I think I’m just bummed because it hasn’t moved in 6 days from it’s original location and I can just imagine that it’s lost and I’ll have to wait another week and a half for them to send a replacement.
It’s kind of like sitting in a traffic jam. Even if it takes an hour to get home, it’s always easier to deal with the traffic if it’s constantly moving. I think I’d be less nervous if I could just see on the tracking site that it’s left it’s original location.
