Shoes, Diamonds and Software Applications.

Some women have a weakness for shoes. Others love sparkly jewelry.
Me? I get all giddy and weak in the knees about software applications.
Like any incredible husband, Jimmy recently informed me that Apple’s latest operating system - Leopard - is my Mother’s Day gift.
I nearly fainted. Fortunately, I was already sitting down.
It’s been ordered from Amazon, picked up by USPS and now I’m patiently stalking TrackMyPack.com to see the exact location of my precious bundle.
I’ve been trying to pass the time by preparing for it’s arrival. I’ve made room on my harddrive, partitioned an external drive for Time Machine and created a sparse image backup in case anything goes awry during delivery installation.
I think I’m ready. I’ll let you know the minute I have it in my arms.
And You?
So, what sort of stuff makes you giddy and weak in the knees?
You know, besides software applications…

Not sure if this post is aimed directly at women, but it’s guitar pedals for me. Colorful, swirling, echoing, swooshing, wah-ing guitar effects pedals.

Amy,
So, can I assume you’re not a Kindle fan then?
Cool Dad,
This post is not gender specific.
Guitar pedals...cool.

Sims 2 expansion packs! I’m a Sims fanatic. I play over 10 hours a week, but I’m stuck at Seasons. I’m gonna have to upgrade my computer before trying Freetime and DEFINITELY before Sims 3 comes out in 2009!!

Well, actually, I do sort of want a Kindle. I think it would be really handy for travel. But it’s way out of my price range. I also love the sight of piles of books..piles and stacks of books...FUN!

Scrapbook stuff. Currently I am drooling over the Cricut cutting system!!! Anything that helps me preserve the family memories. I am still a hands on scrapper, none of this digital stuff for me (other than the camera!!)

Backpacks, tents, boots or any other camping gear. The lighter (weight) the better!

You nailed it: shoes. I love shoes. My happy place is the clearance section of Nordstrom Rack. Mine live in plastic boxes neatly stacked with the fancy ones grouped together. I will sometimes keep them in my trunk and bring them in during the day so hubby won’t see. If I don’t buy a pair of Louboutin’s before I’m 40 I will die.
It’s a compulsion, a sickness, the ultimate retail therapy. I may need serious help.

Hard Liquor.
Just kidding. Though, I would probably end up weak in the knees.
Sorry. Uuuummmm. Here are my top knee-weakeners:
1) My wife.
2) My daughter.
3) My mac
4) Good coffee

Travel. I never feel better than when I open an envelope with a plane ticket inside, or right after booking a trip to somewhere new.

Hey,
How come ‘the hambricks’ get double link love and I get nothin’?
I promise I won’t talk about liquor anymore.

Rachel,
I remember playing Sims....way, way, way back in the day. My brother and I used to play it all the time. I imagine it’s changed. Just. A. Bit.
Clint,
What about a tow rope? (sorry, I couldn’t resist.
Ally,
Well, I just got that photo off Flickr. I have yet to see my disk jacket...I’m sure I’ll love it, though, no matter what it looks like.
April,
I. Am. Horrible. At. Scrapbooking. My scrapbooking consists of taking pictures and downloading them to my computer. Perhaps someday when I’m rich, I’ll hire a scrapbooker to make sense of it all.
I’m sure your family will treasure those books you’re making.
Melanie,
Ha!
Texas in Africa,
I would have never guessed....
Ryan,
I don’t know what you’re talking about. Your blog is over there. You must have just missed it or something. Because it was there.
Really.
It was.........n’t.
But it is now.

I’d have to also go with travel. I don’t get to do it that much, but the anticipation of a trip and the satisfaction of coming home… good feelings!
I will add that I’d rather have shoes than sparkly jewelry.

ummm...Apple....ummm. Pretty much anything they put out makes me giddy.
Nikon D300 is almost enough to make me pass out.
