I Wanna Be Like Shaun Groves

image Tonight I got an incredible email.

My parents told me that because of yesterday’s post, they felt led to sponsor a child through Compassion.

How cool is that?!

It’s one thing to feel like God might use something I wrote to inspire a few people, but to actually know that this little girl has a chance at a new life…

Wow.

In his post today, Shaun talked about how passionate he is about saving kids. Through his concerts about 200 kids are sponsored each month. He said:

I don’t like music enough to do this job anymore.  But I love seeing the American church respond to the needs of children around the world when given the chance.  It’s a cynicism killer.  It’s inspiring.  It’s what I want to do for the rest of my life.

I can see why....only 199 to go.

We’ve sponsored Compassion children the same age of each of our children, since my guys were little. I think we’ve sponsored one child, Zeleke, for more ten years now.  He looks so tall in his photos.  I hope to meet him one day- here or in the arms of Jesus. Our family has learned much about the lives and countries of the children through the Compassion children’s updates.

Amy,
Yeah, I thought it was pretty cool. I loved you’re post the other day about need. I plan to write about it and link to it sometime this week if that’s ok.

Truevyne,
Ten years! That’s so cool that you’ve been able to watch him grow up. I really love how sponsoring a child makes countries on the other side of the world seem so much closer because someone we know and love lives there.

Spence,
Thanks for the kind words! I’m off to check out your site…

Kristin,
Thanks!
