My Half Marathon Training
...is not going so well.
Allergies have been making me feel pretty lousy since January and I was particularly sick last week, so I didn’t run at all for about 10 days. I’ve finally gotten back into it, but I don’t have much time left.
The race is in two weeks and the farthest I’ve run is 7.5 miles. Y-I-K-E-S.
If it was a flat course, I’d feel pretty good about it, but the hills are going to be really tough. I can’t decide if I’ll allow myself to wun (walk up the hills and run the rest) so that I can shoot for a better time (read - beat the ambulance), or slowly run the whole thing.
Crawling is an option as well.
The Smallest Person Joins ASCAP
The Smallest Person has a new hobby (you know, in addition to transcribing scripture). She has been writing songs. Worship songs to be specific.
Who is this child? Seriously.
She has about 5 pages of songs so far. She’s made them into a book.
I’m waiting for the royalties to start flowing in.
In Case You Thought I Was Cool
Blogs have a tendency to show the good stuff. Here’s a bit of reality:
(Enjoy and revel in your superiority.)
Here is what my house usually looks like during the day.
Here is what I usually look like during the day.
And to top it all of off, my non-hunting husband is currently watching ”Turkey Revolution: Extreme Techniques.”
It’s an hour long show covering the latest technology and techniques on how to outsmart a turkey. Hmmm…
Yes, this is how cool blogger families spend their free time.
Finally, My Charismatic Children
We recently purchased a Hillsongs Kids video. I put it on, left the room and this is what I returned to:

A Turkey is apparently a smart animal.
You need full body camo, high powered equipment, decoys, three different turkey calling implements, and army tactics if you ever expect to bag one.
I just learned how.
I may take a trip to my local Academy today to get the gear I need.
I do like turkey.

I thought the boog picture was pretty real, too! Thanks for keeping it real and me encouraged!
Abt the running- everything I have read about training says folks who intersperse walking actually do better. My problem is once I walk one time I find it much easier to take walking breaks.....when is the race?
Love the pictures of your kiddos praising our Lord!

Kat:
Your house looks like most people I know. When we have company over, i usually tell people, “come on in, our house usually doesn’t look like this, its usually worse.”
Jimmy:
Benelli has a new pump shotgun with the camo already on it, and it is very affordable. By the way, wild turkey breast is great if grilled in butter and cajun seasonings (I like Tony Chachary’s the best). Buy the face net, you’ll be glad you did if you go on a Spring turkey hunt.

Seth,
That means a lot.
Cool Mum,
thanks!
Grandma,
I try.
Lilia,
We love you to. The Small Person wrote a letter to you - remind me to send it…
It’s actually my grandparent’s old furniture. We love it.
AIT,
We can’t wait to see you!
Jimmy,
You’re so funny...and cute.
Jameejb,
The race is the 29th. Yes, I’ve heard walking/running is a good way to go, but something in me loves the idea of running without stopping...(I use the term “love” very loosely.)
We’ll see…
Deemus,
Ha. Our house is usually tidy between 7pm and 7am - that would be while our kids sleep…

Pic. #1 My little “bean” especially comes up with P & W in her “office” which is interesting...I’ll say to my hip hubby, where did the bean go? and before he can answer, she’s having her praise & worship time in the b-room!
Pic. #2 I have been on a cleaning/clutter free challenge...but I’m not sure it’s very “hip” but flylady.com is really helping this messy mom. But I do appreciate keeping it real! no superiority here.
And as far as the marathon thing...more props to you...as for me… hip mama + running (other than chasin’ my 3 year old around all day) NO WAY! But, good for you! Wow!

I love the pics of the girls! So precious! I imagine the Lord loves it when His kids worship with such unabandoned innocence.
And I’m really grateful to see the pic of your kitchen. I’ve often wondered how in the world you keep it so clean. Good to know you are truly human! Where do you stash it all when company comes over? I have been known to throw clothes back into the dryer from time to time.

Great pictures! That is really cute. Where did you get the video? Sounds like something my boys would enjoy.
I love the picture of the messy kitchen! Seriously. It makes me feel normal.
We have a ledge that collects anything and everything and I’m forever clearing it off.

Hip Mama,
I need to get on a declutter/cleaning spree. Clearly.
MC,
Clearly you never looked closely at my kitchen - tidy, yes. Clean? Not so much.
And it’s only tidy after the kids go to bed. I’m horrible at keeping it tidy during the day - as you can see.
Where do I stash the junk? There is a reason our bedroom door is always closed…
Lisa,
I got the video at our local Christian bookstore. It’s called Hillsongs Kids - Super Strong God (there are several, though).
Glad I could help you feel normal.

Thanks for the laugh, Kat! Turkey hunting… :o)
If you could see my bedroom right now, you’d know I’m laughing with you, not at you…
I’m hoping to unbury my desk sometime next week, but that all depends on what the excavators find in the process.
