Random Thoughts On Running

image
My body doesn’t seem to know this yet, but I’m planning to run a half marathon in January.

With a 5, 3 and 8 month old - it’s really been tough for me to find time to run - especially with it getting dark earlier now.

So far, I’ve only gotten one long run in and that was only 7 miles - half of what I’ll need to run in about a month. I suppose, though, that as long as I beat the ambulance to the finish line, I’ll consider it a success…

Speaking of running, fellow bloggers Glenn Lavender and Jeremy Thiessen have started a site dedicated to running called - Rockstar Runners. Check it out.

Any other runners out there?

Trying to be! My hip is not too impressed with my efforts. A few friends and I ran a 5k on Sat and it took us 41 minutes!!!!!!

Ah well. I still got up at 5 this am to run at the track. And my hip still hurts......I am not ready to give up to the ellipitical yet.

I have a 4yr old, a 3 yr old and a 7 month old. I can SO relate!

Diana,
I didn’t know you were thinking about doing a full marathon.  Cool.

Jamee,
Congrats on your 5k! That’s great. A friend of mine and I did one about a month ago. It was really fun.

Well, it sounds like we’re in the exact same spot. I don’t know about your 7 month old, but mine doesn’t really wake up at a predictable enough time for me to regularly run in the morning. I’ve managed to fit in a couple runs this week, though.

Running is something I’ve actually been thinking about a lot lately and wishing I had time to do!

I have 10 and 2 year olds, plus a FT job.  Maybe, as you implied, I can pick it up when the daylight begins to last a little bit longer…

I’m a closet runner!  Ha.  My husband doesn’t get home until after dark, so my running has been at the gym....and my kids have been sick so this week my running has been in my daydreams!  smile (There is RSV going around here too, so I’m not really wanting to leave my 4 month old in the gym’s nursery.)

I’ve been doing about 3 miles on the treadmill 3 times a week, but that doesn’t always translate to “real” running.  I’m not sure how far I can run right now!

I wish I could join you for the half marathon in January!  I think that you mentioned that once before and that is how I found your blog--I had forgotten that!

I’ve been running about 3 miles/day, sometimes up to 6…

oh wait, I’m thinking of high school cross country 10 years ago.  Running now?  Nah.

I miss my running days.  Knee injuries made me stop my regimine of 5 miles three times a week.

Today, I could not run 100 yards:  I am +80 pounds since then:>(
