I’m normally not into cute Christian t-shirts, but I thought this one was pretty witty:
In other news, did you know this fall Microsoft plans to release their iPod competitor? They’re calling it Zune and the rumors are that there will be 30 and 60gb versions with both having music and video playback, fm receiving and transmitting capabilities as well as built in wifi. Interesting. If you want to dive further into the rumor mills or see leaked images of the prototype, read this blog.

I scanned through the blog you referenced. Aside from the FM transmitter, what would you say is going to be different than any other non-IPod player? For that matter, could you go ahead and give me some comments on why you find Ipod to be superior? I am about to get something. The major pull toward Ipod is the cool cradle that you buy with my home theater system to pop an Ipod in. So in other words the availability of accessories. Otherwise I’m considering going for better price and going non-Ipod. I’m considering one made by Sandisk that to my knowledge has turned out well in reviews. I haven’t had tons of research time on this so what do you think?

Sam,
Well, the biggest difference is that this one is made by Microsoft so there will likely be an software app to go with it (at some point) like iTunes. So the compatibility might be smoother between the Zune that their software. I’ve also read that Zune will be the base of a larger Zune network. Not sure what that means...there are just so many rumors out there.
As much as I love my Mac, I can’t say that I think that iPods are necessarily superior. The ease of use of the iPod is second to none. However, I’m not as confident in the reliability of the hardware. My husband bought one of the first iPod mini’s for me. It died shortly after the warranty ran out. Maybe it was just a fluke, but $250 flukes really make me a little shakey about trying out another one. I did, however, fork out $99 for a Shuffle and it’s been quite faithful.
I’d definitely say, that it’s best not to buy the first (Revision A) of an Apple product. Frankly, that’s probably true of any product.
All in all, ease of use is the biggest issue for me when it comes to an mp3 player. I have a palm that can play mp3’s but it’s such a pain to put songs on there that I rarely use it. My shuffle gets a constant workout though, just because it’s so easy to use.
Honestly, I think my next mp3 player purchase will be a phone/music player combo. There are several of them out now. I’d probably go with the Motorola Rockr just because it runs iTunes and, again, it all comes back to the ease of use issue.
It’s also important to consider how you purchase your music. If you use iTunes and you don’t buy and iPod, you’ll need to burn your songs to a cd and then reimport them as an mp3 in order to play them on a non apple device. The same is true if you buy .wma files and you buy a player that can’t handle .wma files. So take a look at your music library and see what your various file extensions are.
There are just some random thoughts. I hope that helps in some way. Thanks for commenting!

What’s wrong with me!? I can’t figure out what that t-shirt is trying to say. Please help
Also, I have a Shuffle (that a beautiful, wonderful, kind, caring, giving, super-cool person gave to me) and I LOVE it! It’s just exactly what I need, and you can’t beat the battery play time.

I hate Mac but even I can see that they are trying to say “Jesus saves”. On PC it would look like “Jesus Ctrl+S’s”.
Almost like Jesus controls, lol.

It could also say ‘Jesus Commands’
.

Calvin,
Funny! Really, though, I think it would say “Jesus Commands’s”
Thanks for taking the time to comment!
