My Insane Week

This has been one of the craziest weeks ever.

It started last Monday when my husband went out of town for a 3 day business trip.

Apparently, my 2 year old didn’t think that taking care of a 4 year old, 2 year old and a 5 week old by myself was going to be enough of a challenge, so she decided to throw up shortly after my husband left.

Have I mentioned my utter paranoia about vomiting?

Then, the next day, I came down with a cold. I still have that cold.

I’m pretty sure I heard angels singing when my husband pulled into the driveway Wednesday night.

On Thursday, I had to get packed for our trip to Dallas for my sister-in-law’s wedding. It was a gorgeous wedding and I really couldn’t be happier for her. The Small Person and The Smaller Person were flower girls and they had SO much fun.

It was a hectic weekend, though, with the rehearsal, rehearsal dinner, photos in the morning, the ceremony, the reception and dinner with the family later that evening. Trying to schedule my 5 week old son’s feeding/sleeping/playing times in the midst of it was was pretty crazy. He was a complete champ, though and I was able to enjoy the whole weekend and didn’t miss out on anything.

We got home this afternoon and my cold was in full force. I couldn’t even really talk. Some motrin, ramen and a couple good naps have done wonders. I’m feeling much better now.

My son slept through the night twice this weekend, so there is hope on the horizon for my life to return to some sort of normalcy.

This was a random post.

Did you do anything interesting this past week?

wow… I didn’t realize your children’s ages were so close to my children’s ages.  I can totally relate however, with my husband being out of town and juggling all of them.

I’m sorry you got a cold, and your little one got sick.  I’m glad for you though, that your littlest one is starting to sleep through the night.  (by through the night, how many hours do you mean?)

Hope you are feeling better soon, and Happy belated Mothers day!

I’m sure I’m a wimp compared to you Kristin. Brody’s out of town a lot isn’t he?

I think it’s a particularly large adjustment for me because I’m used to Jimmy being home all the time. So, it’s not just that he isn’t there in the evening, or available to help with bedtime, but he’s also not there to talk to during the day.

How old are your boys (you have 3 boys right?).

Well, right now, my expectations for sleeping through the night are pretty low, so one night he went 6 hours between feedings and then the other night he went 7 hours. Of course, I was sick both nights and only slept about 3 hours…

My boys are 4 (nearly 5), 2 years, and a 6 month old.  Yeah Brody’s in and out of town a lot, but I can relate to talking to your husband during the day, because when he’s home, he works out of our home office, so I am used to him being around and then it’s an adjustment when he leaves again!

That’s good for your baby!  You do baby wise, right?  I am trying to get into more of an established routine that way.  I loosely do baby wise.  We are getting back into a routine after our trip, and he just started solids, so the sleeping is getting a little better, but he’s still not going for longer than about 5 hours at a time.

Hope you are feeling better soon.

Kristin,
You’re right. Our kids really are close in age. My 4 year old will be 5 next month.

I have to say we do a VERY loose version of Baby Wise...mainly because we can’t find out copy of the book. Right now I’m just trying to do the sleeptime/eat/waketime thing. I’m not really scheduling his eating times much.

I don’t know if it’s something we’re doing or if its a genetic thing, but be encouraged that he’ll sleep through the night soon enough…
