My Birthday Present

My birthday was this week and I am now the grand old age of 32.

Tonight Jimmy is taking me to play tennis (which we haven’t done in at least a year) and then to the Nancy Drew movie. I’m very excited.

Yesterday, he and the girls gave me my present:

It’s a souped up scooter. Both of my girls have scooters and I’ve been borrowing them a lot lately.

They’re fun.

Anyway, I’ve been saying I want one of my own so that I can take the girls to Baylor and we can scoot around campus. Jimmy not only got me the scooter, but he got the super duper cool one that I can break limbs using while I try to do cool tricks on it. I’ve tried jumping it and it’s really rad (shout out to Fancypants).

I’m pretty sure I’m the only 32 year old mother of 3 who asked for and got a Fuzion scooter for her birthday. I’m weird and I accept that. I think the neighbors are a bit nervous about me, though.

Anyway, here’s an example of what my nifty new scooter can do. I can’t do it, but my scooter could...if someone else was riding it.

I need to practice. If you have a swimming pool I can scoot in, call me.

I even had a dream last night that I saved the world with my new scooter. ‘Cuz I can go really fast and do tricks.

What did you get for your last birthday? And what would you like for your next one?

Happy Birthday!  So last year it was the Office Depot shopping spree, and this year the scooter, (or was that your anniversary?) How fun !  Post a video when you learn to do some awesome tricks.

Hope you had a good day, and enjoyed the movie.

Awesome Scooter. That looks fun. And I agree with Kristin. You need to give us some video proof you ride that thing.

As for what I want for my next birthday…

Happy Birthday!  You certainly are rad for a 32 year old mom!  Have fun.

Very nice.  Your scooter and your use of the word rad.

Happy Birthday!

Happy birthday, Kat. Love the new scooter.  I have an friend, mom of seven, who has one, so that makes two weird friends.

My last birthday (41) wasn’t so great.  I think I got a CD my husband wanted, and my children fought like cats and dogs.

However, on my 40th, my husband and friends put together an enourmous party for me.  I spent the night with the girls at my friend’s guest cabin, and we all drove to my home for an all day, all night party.  The universe stopped by that day! Many who came, and many who couldn’t, made scrap book pages for me. I got so many presents I couldn’t begin to list them all (here are a few- a koolaid purse, refinished cedar chest, bonzai tree, candles, hostas, handmade jewelry, nail salon and massage gift certificates).  It was amazing and quite overwhelming.

Happy Birthday Kat!  The scooter sounds like fun.  I used to TRY to ride my boys’ skateboards...didn’t turn out very well. wink

Happy birthday!

My gift this year was great - I got a new bed!  It’s one of the best gifts ever (and I cannot WAIT to get back to the states to sleep in it!).  For my next birthday, I would like a magical pill that will make me not be turning thirty. smile

Happy Birthday!  I liked the blog about how to relate to a pregnant wife.  It made me laugh.

Thanks everyone!

Kristin,
Yes, Office Depot was for our anniversary. In fact, I used the label machine I got when I reorganized the kids’ craft area a couple weeks ago. It was exhilarating.

Euphrony,
Um...thanks?...and I hope not!

Steven,
I’m afraid that video would be pretty boring since all I can do is ride it and do one tiny itty bitty, slightly dorky looking jump.

Barbara,
Aww...thanks! Nice use of the word rad.

FP,
I’m liking “rad” thanks for the reintroduction.

The6stricklands,
Thanks! Do your kids scoot? Perhaps we can all go scooting sometime. (Not sure what the proper grammar is there...)

truevyne,
“I think I got a cd my husband wanted...”

That’s hilarious! I’m glad your 40th was much better, though!

Cristy,
Thanks! You know, you might give scooting...um...scootering...um whatever the right word is… a second try. If you use a scooter like mine it’s sort of easier to get started with because it has four weels. And then once you get the hang of it it’s more fun to use than a regular scooter because it’s much more maneuverable.

achelona,
It really was. Thanks.

Texas in Africa,
Mmmm...new beds are awesome. My parents brought us a king size water bed a few months ago. We’d been using a full sized bed ever since we got married and it was getting a bit crowded in the mornings when the girls come and snuggle with us. We were about to have to kick someone off the island when my parents brought us the waterbed.

I’ve been highly enjoying your blog, by the way.

Thirty isn’t so bad. I’ve been here for two years and I’m rather liking it.
