Must… Not… Get… Sleeeeeepy

It’s 9:32pm.
Jimmy is asleep on the couch beside me and only the fear of dropping my iBook is keeping me from LaLa Land.
I’m in that state of sleepiness where you tend to process things about 1-3 seconds after they actually happen.
I could fall asleep at any moment, but being something of a night owl, I’m morally opposed to nodding off at 9:32pm. You have to be younger than 7, older than 70 or a morning DJ to go to bed at 9:32pm.
But things have been busy lately, and I’ve had far too many days when I’ve gone to bed the same day I need to wake up (think about that for a second.)
So...I’ll be going to bed early tonight. Perhaps I’ll get more than my usual 5-6 hours.
And you? What time do you usually go to bed and get up?

I am a nightowl as well. Usually get to bet around 1:00 a.m. and asleep, hopefully, by 2:00.
Up at around 8:00-8:30.
Tomorrow, I’m up at 6:00 for my first men’s bible study here.
Did I mention that it is at 6:00 a.m.??????

Sam and I usually go to bed around 11-11:30. My boys wake up at 6:30 regardless of what time they go to sleep--so if I want any sleep I have to go to bed early!
I can totally relate to your other post too (putting too much on your plate). I tend to feel that same need to say yes to more than I should. I’m learning to say no and also feeling like the things I do should be more for God’s glory than my personal pleasure. Glad to know I’m not the only one!

usual for me is about 11pm to about 6 am.
I’ve always been a night owl, I feel like I wake up after 5 pm. I have to make myself go to bed at night so I;m not exahusted the next day!

My hubby is an early to bed guy, usually 9pm. I go to bed with him, until he falls asleep, then I get back up to make sure the boys are in bed at 10pm, walk the dog, then have “my time” until about midnight or 1am. “My time” consists of reading and/or watching TV (HGTV or CSI) while working puzzle books...generally just not having to do anything for anyone but me. I get up at 6am.

I’m usually doing homework until about 2 or 3 am and up around 8 or 9, so I’m definitely with you on the “going to bed the same day I wake up” deal. Enjoy your sleep!

Usually hit the hay around 11-12:30, but once a week go in around the same time as the kids at maybe 8/9 - that usually is a Friday/Saturday.
I get up at around 6:30-7.
Wife and I joke how we must be old because on occasion we checkin for a few days EARLY like at 8/9…

Until I was around 38, I went to bed around 2am, nite owl for sure. But the last few years, I have gone to bed sooner and sooner.
I have been to bed before 9pm twice in the last month. I am turning into my dad. I look alot better though, physically. Less bags under the eyes, etc. The lovely Katherine just laughs and says its me getting old. Well, she can bite me. The truth hurts.
I do stay up later on the weekends, and occasionally during the week. But I always feel it the next day. I guess its time to admit the sad truth.

I’m in bed between 11 and midnight. Then I’m up between 2 and 3 with Liler’E. Then Mrs. E is up between 3 and 4 with him. Then I get up around 6am to get ready work work. The kid just won’t sleep, I tell ya. Of course, he has an excuse right now: 5 new teeth coming in in the last seven days. Count’em five teeth in a week. I’d cry, too.

It seems like very few of us get the recommended 8 hours of sleep each night…
Euphrony,
I hear you on the teething thing. My little guy has a few coming in right now and has been waking up at odd hours for the past 3 nights.
Chris,
That’s a good idea - to occasionally go to bed at the same time as the kids. I could certainly use the extra rest!
Deemus,
You’re not getting older so much as getting wiser.
Seth,
How was the Bible Study?
SuperLindsey and Crystal,
2am? I see 2am a couple times a month, but not on a regular basis. I love those wee hours of the night. (why do they call them “wee” hours?)
Lisa H and Kristin,
Sounds like we have the exact same schedule. Well, when I stick to my schedule that is. So is there some universal rule that all small children must wake up at 6am?
Cristy,
That’s very sweet that you stay with him until he falls asleep.

In my experience kids wake up with the sunrise, right? Or do your kids wake up at 6 even if it’s the time of year when it’s dark at 6?
I need 9 hours of sleep to be happy, and, given that I don’t have kiddos and I have a fantastic teaching schedule this semester, I usually get 8-9 hours of sleep. Bed around 11-12, wake up at 8 or 9, depending on the day of the week. I am NOT a morning person!

TiA,
Me too! I always feel a little strange saying that nine hours makes me a happy camper because it feels like so much.

Chris and I go to bed at 11p and wake up at 6a.
Unless, it’s the weekend, we’ll wait for the children to pull us out of bed, which is around 7p.
