Life and Death

On Saturday, the Paul Saxson went to be with Jesus.
His parents woke up in the middle of the night to his shallow breathing and they knew the end was near. They held him, whispered Truth in his ears and in their words, “We loved him to the other side.”
Today was his funeral. It was at the same church I took my daughter to for an event and her classroom was right next to the viewing room. I can’t tell you how heavily that weighed on me today.
Life and death were separated by 1 wall and about 10ft.
On one side of the wall, I said goodbye to my daughter for the day.
On the other side of the wall, Leigh and Terrill said goodbye to their son, Paul, forever.
On one side of the wall, children laughed and played.
On the other side of the wall, family and friends mourned and wept.
While my daughter learned about Jesus in her class, Paul was standing in His very presence.
It was a reminder to me to treasure every moment with my children. I hugged them extra tight today. I hope you’ll hug your kids a bit tighter today as well.
And please pray for the Saxson family. You can read their blog here.

As a father of a beautiful 4-month old baby boy...this story has left a lump in my throat since I first read about it. I can’t imagine what it’s like to lose a child. I hope I never know. No parent should ever face this.
Sounds like Paul was very blessed, however, to have parents who so graciously and lovingly handed him off to his Savior.
May God give them that unbelievable, indescriable peace in this time of grief.

This story makes my heart ache, it is just so sad. will be praying for their family, but also share the sentiments of Tim, that it’s amazing to see his parents faith remain so strong, that in spite of their pain they could “love him to the other side.”
Thank you for sharing, it definitely gives perspective, especially today when I’ve been so frustrated with whining. It’s good to get a reminder to be great full for every moment.
Do they have other children?

We have friends who lost their 1-year old boy to leukemia a couple of weeks ago. Very, very sad. I’ve been praying for this family, and will continue to do so.

Tim,
Our babies are about the same age. My little boy will be 4 months old next week.
Kristin,
They do have two other sons.
Euphrony,
I just said a prayer for your friends…
