It’s Okay. I’m Secure

Every morning my 3 year old daughter calls me a pig.

“You’re a pig, Mommy!” she joyfully declares as she points her pudgy little finger in my face.

I know what you’re thinking…

“That’s so precious. Money can’t buy these sweet mother/daughter moments.”

Umm...yeah. Anyway…

I’m not just any pig, though. I’m ALPHA Pig.

You see, my daughter (aka - The Smaller Person) loves the show the Super Readers on PBS. It features five superheros who solve problems by reading.

And each day as the show begins, The Smaller Person assigns superhero alter egos to each member of our family...and each day the identities vary.

Except mine - I’m always the pig.

Ahem...the ALPHA pig.

If you could be any superhero, who would it be?

Green Arrow was always my favorite.  After that, probably Spiderman or Superman.

Then there’s that whole “With great power comes great responibility ...” Blah Blah Blah.

Lil’E watched Super Readers for a few weeks, then got bored and moved on.

As a superhero I would probably be like someone from Mystery Men.  Don’t ask who.

Haha..thats sort of funny.

Um...I think I would want to be Elastigirl from the Incredibles. As a mom, those super powers sure would be INCREDIBLE!!

Doesn’t that pig kind of make it all happen?  Maybe she recongizes that trait in you?  Could be a compliment.

I would be Batman, loved that toolbelt.

Would consider being Swamp Thing.

Peter Petrelli?  Well, I wouldn’t actually want to be him, but it seems being able to have all the powers might be nice.

My 2 year old son also loves that show. His favorite is super why.

Such a lame answer, but when I’m honest with myself: Superman.  Dude can fly, see through stuff, be really strong, wear primary colors AND the cape, blow icy wind, etc.

There’s nothing he can’t do!  Well, I guess be a kryptonite miner.  And a kryptonite ore processor.  And I guess a kryptonite polisher, too… Maybe I should reconsider.

I changed my mind.  I want to be Super Pig.  I am already kinka chunky, so I just need a curly tail, a cape, and I will run into a few parked cars for good measure.

My dad was a cop, so I sorta know where to take the whole pig thing.

But if ever challenged, i will never challenge the Alpha Pig.  Right on.

Thanks a lot Kat! With all this talk of pigs and super heroes, I’ve got Homer Simpson in my head singing…

“Spiderpig, Spiderpig...does whatever a Spiderpig does.”

You know, from the recent Simpson’s Movie commercials.

Anyway, It’s Spiderman for me. I’m half way there. I’ve got the clumsy, kinda dorky alter ego down pretty good already. Just need to work on my web slinging and wall scaling abilities. Plus, I don’t think that Spiderman has any weaknesses.

I think I would be elas-ti-girl.  It would be pretty handy to have stretchy arms and legs. 

Reach the kids in the back seat, not need a stool to retrieve the darts that were shot to the top of the fridge… etc.
