It’s Like Valium for Babies

I love my Baby Bjorn.
It’s like magic. No matter how fussy or upset my baby is, when I put him in the Baby Bjorn he’s peacefully asleep within 3 minutes.
Everytime.
It’s wonderful.
And addicting.
Do you have any baby tips or tricks?

My little guy loved his Bumbo seat. Have you seen those? They have other brands too now. You can put your baby in them when they’re not quite able to sit alone, and it keeps them upright so that they can see things around them and play a bit.
My exersaucer was a lifesaver with my daughter, but my son didn’t like it much. He wanted to be out there with Sis.
Right now, the one thing that can save my day is Disney’s “Brother Bear” DVD. I don’t want to raise an ADD kid, but at least when I park the little guy in front of that movie I’m able to get a shower or cook supper. He’s completely mesmerized.

Susanne,
Ooh. I’ll have to check out the Bumbo seat. I hadn’t heard of it.

Susanne,
Do you have an RSS feed available for your blog? I tried to find it, but I couldn’t.

Best baby tip? You already know it. Enjoy your little treasure, because babyhood passes so quickly.

I LOVE my baby sling, and our baby carrier. I use both all the time. The sling is good for nursing him in it, snuggling him close, and keeping him safe from people touching! The baby carrier (ours is the JEEP brand) is good for working in the kitchen, walking outside, he loves it because he can see the world in it!
Babies like to be close to their mommies, and there are benefits to it as well. My baby sling was hand made by a local woman, her website is http://kaleababy.com/ and she has the benefits listed.

I made a sling for our trip and my baby loved it. Now at 6 months he loves the exersaucer type thing we have. It gives me a chance to cook and he feels good standing up!

We had a Snuggli (just another brand of the baby bjorn type carrier) and LOVED it. I have a cuddly baby who was born in the winter, so it was a way to be outside and be sure he was warm enough. He usually sleeps in it, too. Now that he’s getting older (5 months today) I turn him outward, and he likes that, too.
My magic bullet with a colicky newborn, though, was the carseat. It worked like a CHARM, and since he is my only child, it was perfectly reasonable to drive him around so that I could have a phone conversation and a cup of coffee, or just get a little peace and quiet after a long night.

So far, my best tip is to not have babies. That usually shuts them up.

Kat, the fact that I just looked up “RSS feed” on Wikipedia tells you something about my knowledge of computers/blogs. Pretty sad for an engineer, huh?! Well, I was a chemical engineer, after all.

Susanne,
I, Euphrony, graduated from Texas A&M;with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering in 1995, followed by a M.S. in 1998. But I was the guy that the people in the computer lab referred to as “the one who knows how to do things on the computers”.
