Indie Artists and You Tube

Why aren’t more indie artists on You Tube?
The other day I spent some time searching for my favorite artists and found very little. There were a couple of videos of Shaun Groves and one or two from Five Cent Stand and Andrew Osenga, but they were mostly edited “produced” videos.
Maybe it’s just me, but I love to see live footage of artists with just them and their guitar/piano/recorder/harmonica/bagpipe/whatever. Waco isn’t exactly a concert hotspot so ever since I left KSBJ and moved here I’ve been in concert withdrawal. I’d love to see indie artists post footage of a song or two from a live show on YouTube. They’re fun for fans to post in their blogs and I think it’s a great way to get exposure.
Am I missing something? Why don’t more musicians post simple, raw footage from their shows? Maybe I’m the only one who wants to see something other than slickly produced videos?
In the meantime, I’ll just watch this teasingly short clip of one of my favorite artists, Kendall Payne.

Oh the pain. We had planned to chronicle the entire tour with video but ALAS (alas said through gritting frustrated teeth) the video camera decided to take a nose dive off of some stack of speakers and… well its to painful to relive.
We are currently on the hunt for a new camera. Hopefully we will start some new stuff when we get back. Sort of some livingroom sessions.
Look forward to seeing you guys in November.

I saw that first video. I’m sad that your video camera met an untimely end.
As I mentioned on your blog, the living room sessions idea sounds fun. Just don’t wait tooooo long.
