I’m Thankful

We had a great Thanksgiving with my husband’s family. I adore my in-laws. Not many people can say that, so I’m very conscious of what a blessing it is that I really enjoy his family. It would be terrible if I didn’t like them since family get togethers consist of about 24 people spending 3-4 days eating, sleeping and playing in the same house. It sounds crazy (sometimes it is) but, being an extrovert, I love it.

My sweet husband, the girls and I didn’t stay at “the house” this time, though. It was at his grandparents house and they only live 40 minutes away, so we just drove there in the mornings and drove home in the evenings. It was nice not to pack, but it did make for an exhausting weekend.

I’m going to get some sleep right now, but tomorrow I’ll post more about the weekend. Here are some teasers:
-I watched my children slide down a bowling alley lane.
-My two year old was traumatized by bees and schnauzers
-I listened to an Amish bluegrass band and children’s choir cover Salvador’s spanish tune “Se Montana”
-Never teach 12 year old boys how to say “Your beautiful face makes me vomit in the toilet” in sign language if you don’t want to get in trouble with their moms.

So how was your Thanksgiving?

Ours was wonderful.  Of course I got to cook with my husband’s grandmother on Wednesday night and Thursday morning.  The food was yummy as usual.

On Friday morning, we went to his other grandmother’s and we were surprised to find about 40 family members that were camping out, literally, for the entire weekend!  They came from Michigan, New York, Ohio and Florida!  The weather was perfect for camping, so they all decided to come and pitch tents on her property (she has about 300 acres in Madison, IN) and celebrate Thanksgiving for several days.  It was so nice to see everyone and, OH, the food they had!  Tables and tables full of it!  I’m still full.

Can’t wait to read your stories.  grin

Cristy,
Wow. Thank sounds like fun! I’d imagine Indiana is gorgeous this time of year.

Did you camp too?

No, unfortunately, we had to come back home late Friday night since my oldest son had basketball practice at 8am Saturday.  downer

We didn’t even know all of that was going on!  She had called earlier in the week to tell us her daughter was in from Florida and asked us to come by if we had a chance.  She didn’t mention all the other family that was coming.  We were pleasantly surprised.  Did I mention I love my in-laws, too?  grin
