I’m Back…sort of.

The smallest person and I just got home from the hospital so I thought I’d pop in and let you know that both he and I are doing well.
It didn’t start out that way though…
I had to have an emergency c-section. Just about 45 minutes after we arrived at the hospital for my scheduled induction, I had a rare type of contraction called a tetanic contraction. This type of contraction doesn’t let up and it was constricting him so much that his heart slowed and eventually stopped. They rushed me to the OR, told Jimmy to kiss me at the door and then they took me in.
I can’t imagine how scary it must have been for Jimmy. Literally, one minute the nurses were declaring how healthy I was, that the baby was doing great and should be born in a matter of hours, to doctors being paged, nurses running down the hall and Jimmy being told that he couldn’t come with me and he just had to wait.
Some dear friends of his rushed to the hospital while their wives called everyone to pray for our little guy and for the situation.
The good news is that despite an intense 30 minutes for everyone, our son is in perfect health. Jimmy is in the living room right now playing with him. Well, staring at him. Newborns don’t really do all that much.
The amazing thing about the whole story is that if my doctor hadn’t scheduled an induction - at that time - I would have had that tetanic contraction at home, and the outcome might not have been as happy. What a knowing and loving and soverign God we serve.
Thanks for your prayers. They mattered more than you know.
I’ll post some pics of our little guy later today.

CONGRATULATIONS! I am so happy for you that all is well. I hope you recover quickly. What a scary thing. Was the contraction caused by pitocin, or other form of induction drug? Glad you are all well anyways. Will continue praying.

Tight spot! (No pun intended.) I’m glad he’s safe and healthy. Lil’E was a section, as well, when we found out in the middle of labor that she had turned to breach in the last week before birth, so we’ve had a little experience with plans going out the window. I know how tense it can be, and I know how relieving it is just to hold him and see his bright eyes. Congrats!

Congrats on your baby boy. So, glad all is well. Though rough starts are so scary. Makes me feel vulnerable all over again thinking on the fragility of a newborn’s life.

By the way, get some rest. Don’t worry about us and updating progress reports; take care of yourself and the fam first.
Again, congrats!

Don’t listen to Euphrony. I expect hourly updates.
I am so glad you and yours are well.
Having39 contractions would be much better than just having one big bad long one, right?

I am so happy to hear you and your sweet baby boy are doing well. I’m sorry about the c-section, but you’re right, God is sovereign, and I’m thankful you were at the hospital when things got a bit scary.
Operamom has been out of the blogosphere lately, but I’ll pass the good news on to her. I know she’ll be excited for you, and she’s been through 2 c-sections, so I know she’ll know just how to pray for you. Know you’re in our prayers.
Much love. And congratulations!
