I Need My Nose Ring….NOW!

For those of you who are familiar with my minivan saga, I present:
“Mom My Ride”

In light of my history with the minivan, this video absolutely cracked me up....and further strengthened my desire to get a nosering…

Can you relate to this?

Word association: What’s the first word you think of when you hear the word “Minivan”?

We were watching Scrubs the other night, and one of the character’s wife is pregnant, so they buy a mini van.  He is totally embarrassed, so he puts spinners on the wheels, and is seen riding around town in it, with his sweathirt hoodie pulled tight around his face and huge sun glasses on.  Totally cracked me up.

I loved your Me vs the mini van post.  I liked the one about you not being able to win a free vacation now because they are always for four people!

So much in this video had me laughing, but I loved the part where he ducttapes the side mirror back to the van, and says, “this shows that this lady’s got a man.” That is something my husband would do, and has done.

Kristin,
A hoodie and sunglasses? That’s funny. One of those groucho marks glasses/mustache/nose combos works just fine for me…

Fortunately for us, this minivan is our first brand new car so we’ve set ground rules for it that have, so far, prevented it from resembling the minivan in the video.

Our old Sonata Sedan didn’t fair as well…

Thanks for posting this video on your blog. It made my day!

Kristin, I saw that episode, and probably every other episode, of Scrubs.  We love that show.  Hilarious!

Kat, unfortunately, we bought my 2001 Camry brand new, but over the last 6 years, it has sadly come to closely resemble the van is this video.  I couldn’t figure out whether to laugh, or cry.

Oh yeah! By the way, I did go back and look at the forms, just like I promised.  I LOVE THEM!  I downloaded them and showed them to my hubby and we’re going to try to see which ones we can use...sitting down with the kids this weekend to go over them.

I love the Weekly Planner line:
barriers/excuses

That made me think it was perfect for my kids, since they always have an excuse for why something (especially chores) did not get completed.

Thanks for sharing these!!!  grin

That’s freakin’ beautiful.  I haven’t cachinnated quite so well in some time.

You know how I feel about the nose ring.  I just can’t believe you haven’t got one yet.  You are dangerously close to being labeled “all talk.” Careful, Kat, or teasing will ensue.

Cach,
I’m not all talk. I wasn’t planning on getting it while I’m pregnant…

Although, hopefully my gumption won’t wear off by the time I’m up for getting out and actually doing it…

You absolutely need a nosering!

BTW, loved this video- added it to my ‘must share with the wife’ playlist.  So far, I don’t believe she’s enjoyed anything in there but I surely thought she would!

Cristy~ Scrubs is such a funny show I agree.
Our car is quickly aproaching the margin of actually looking like the inside of a trashcan.

Crystal,
No, I haven’t done it..yet. I’m pretty sure it will freak my inlaws out… I really want to though.

Yea, I read on Anne’s blog that you got your nose pierced. Too cool.

I had a nose ring for about a year and a half.  I so loved the freedom of going and getting it pierced.  My husband liked it too.  It came out sometime this past December.  It is probably good that it came out and that I was unable to get it back in, they close up right away, but there are times that I miss it.  I think for me it helped to break whatever hold was over me that I had to dress and certain way and act a certain way if I loved Jesus and lead worship for my church.

During that time we ended up with a mini-van, and we picked up a cell phone for our family.  I thought that I had sold out.  What happened was our van turned into just what I’d hoped for, a vehicle for transporting a load of kids around to the pool, to camp, to church.

Hi Amy!
Yes, I have to say I’m really pleased with my minivan. As much as I fought it....I really do like it.

I still do want the nosering and my husband is completely supportive, but he doesn’t really like them so while he wouldn’t mind me getting one, I’m holding off unless he changes his mind. After all, he’s the one staring at my face all day long… grin

We’ll see.

I think that this is so funny. Everyone has this perception of minivan and what it represents. People used to think minivans were cool at one time, then the pop choice was SUV’s. Seriously, I think people like what other people think are cool, stylish, will get them noticed, etc.

I actually have a friend that her husband refuses to drive in a minivan because they are not cool and he is a christian. I know other christians that refuse to get a minivan because of the “image.” I say you have got to be kidding me! I own a minivan, because when you look at the numbers, they are safer, they fit more people comfortably, they don’t take up as much gas, and have you ever tried to get a baby out of their car seat in a tight parking lot with a suv/car door, now try doing that with a minivan door. All you have to do is slide a minivan door not open it and it makes a world of difference.

Teresa,
Thanks so much for commenting!

I must confess that I’m one of those people who didn’t want to get a minivan. I love it now though.

The expected date of delivery may also be calculated from sonogram measurement of the fetus.

The Zima team is willing to Mom Your Ride and turn it into the mini-van that SCREAMS, “I have three kids and a loving husband!”
