(Deep Breath. Deep Breath)
I. Am. Not. Going. To. Blog. This. Week.
(Buries face in pillow and screams.....Arrrggghhh!!!!!!!)
There. I said it. I feel better.
Taking A Break
I’m taking what you could call a Sabbatical.
I’m not going to read my RSS reader and I’m not going to post any blog entries.
Breathing will be optional as well.
Praying For My Kids
If you know me, you know that this is a pretty radical thing for me to do. But I feel compelled, as the school year approaches, to really spend some time praying for my kids. Particularly for my daughter who will be starting Kindergarten.
Honestly, I don’t pray enough for my kids. So this week I really want to sit down, get organized and be deliberate about it.
Thirty One Things
I’ve listed 31 things that I want to pray for. These are in no particular order and are subject to change:
Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, Self Control, Wisdom, Discernment, Thankfulness, Compassion, Trust, Inner Strength/Steadfastness, Prudence, Salvation, A passion for prayer, Hunger for God’s Word, Health, Ministry, Worship, Parenthood/Their children, Communication, Purpose, Identity in Christ, Family relationships, Godly mentors, Teachers, Friends, Spouse.
My Plan
Each day I plan to take three or four of the items, see what the Bible has to say about them, note relevant verses, pray for each of my children regarding those topics and make a schedule/plan so that I can pray more intentionally and specifically for my kids from now on.
Why Am I Telling You This?
I feel a bit weird telling you that I plan to take this week off to pray. I feel compelled to tell you for three reasons:
1. So you won’t think I’ve fallen off the face of the Earth.
2. Perhaps you’ll take a minute to pray for me. I’ll take all the prayer I can get. I’m desperate to be the best mother I can be for my Small People.
3. Frankly, I need the accountability. If I didn’t tell you that I’m not blogging this week, I’d be likely to fall off the wagon as fast as you can say Wifi.
Farewell
So, farewell my blogging friends. I’ll see you again on Monday the 20th of August in the year 2007.
...at 12:00:01am.
(And friends are friends forever...)

Kat, this is beautiful. I’ll be praying for you and your kids, too. Today is the first day of school for mine… I’ve been praying for them, too. I honestly don’t pray enough for my kids, either, and your post prompted me. Thank you for that!

Ok. Serriously.
I’m having withdrawals here Kat.
I find myself rocking back and forth in my chair wishing my Google Reader would spew forth the good news that you have returned.
It’s 11:40 pm CST.
Almost....time....
