The plumbers have left.
The leak is fixed.
My washing machine is back.
....and my laptop is on the other side of the mountain of laundry that has accumulated over the past week.
If you don’t hear from me in 48 hours, call search and rescue.
Oh, and you might want to buy stock in Gain. I’ll be using A LOT of it over the next day or two.
What is your laundry detergent of choice? (Extra props to any guys who know what detergent is used in your house.)

I like Tide because I know I can trust it to clean without ruining my clothes. I lost 2 pair of nice work pants to the cheapest detergent at Walmart that left bleach-like stains on my clothes. My wife has been buying All or Cheer recently. Even though I do my own laundry, I never pay attention to what brand is being used, as long as it works.

We like Arm and Hammer because it’s cheap and we like how it smells. (plus it’s gets our clothes clean, which really is the point I guess) But I found a tip that has been great to make it stretch: use 1/4 cup of detergent, 1/4 cup of baking soda, and 1/4 cup of vinegar in a Downy ball. So far it’s working great!

UltraTide concentrate with Febreeze (tm). With two boys (9 and 12) the mountain of laundry is a familiar part of the household landscape here too.
Do Dads who actually use the laundry detergent get extra props?

First of all, I’m impressed you could go so long without washing clothes. We would have had to go buy underwear and socks, I’m afraid, if we had to wait so long to do laundry.
Second, we use the free and clear stuff for my kids - they both have sensitive skin and break out with fragrances. But I LOVE the smell of Tide. It just smells clean.

Gain original scent is my hands down favorite, but in the summer I like to mix it up and get Gain Island Breeze. I wish they had a fabric spray (ala Febreeze)because I would be using that like crazy. Love the smell of Gain.

My comment is almost exactly like Stephanie’s. We use All free and clear due to one child having sensitive skin. He gets a rash whenever we use anything with a scent. So no scents here, but I also LOVE the smell of Tide and that would be my choice if I could use a scented detergent.
Glad you have your plumbing fixed finally! Have fun (maybe not the best word?) getting caught up on your laundry!

I second Stephanie’s comment: we would have had to go buy underwear and socks too if our laundry had to wait so long!
I usually buy whatever is on sale. But I always get the free and clear in whatever brand is on sale...right now it’s Tide.

Tide. I use it. And I’m a man.
How many extra props could I get for being able to talk about the variety of surfactants used in the detergent (nonionic, cationic, calcium chelators, etc.) and how difficult it really is to put together an effective “detergent” product that can be used just about anywhere, get your clothes clean, and not ruin them? Or, we could start talking about the crazy problems they have with the liquid concentrates - putting that much surfactant into a solution is not easy.

Gain.
I know because I do most of the shopping. Anna hates going to the grocery store.

It’s...the greenish stuff in the red plastic jug with the blue lid on the shelf by the clothes washer. I use it, I just don’t recall the brand name of it right now.

I love the Cheer Free, mostly because I’m allergic to everything. I want to go natural, but I’m allergic to lavender, and lavender is in almost EVERYTHING natural.
More importantly, is there still a hole in your floor?

Like Stephanie and Lisa, I use ALL Free & Clear. My kids have sensitive skin. It’s not cheap, but I stock up when I find it on sale!

Tide HE ... been using Tide all my life, but when I got a new washer a couple of years ago, it recommended using HE.

Definitely Tide. I am convinced it cleans the best & keeps my clothes nicer longer. It’s worth the extra $$ to me. This is after trying every brand out there!

my clothes are washed in testosterone and unicorn sweat.

We’ve always used Tide for as long as I can remember. The was one time (probably when I was in high school) that my mom got ABC but she was allergic to it. We never got it again after that one time.

I use homemade, and I buy my ingredients from Soaps Gone Buy! (no I’m not connected with them, just love their stuff!)

@Rick, sounds like Era. It’s what I used to use. But I think it’s more blueish than greenish.

I think Euphrony should get props for using the word “surfactant.”
We have Tide right now, but only b/c I had a good coupon for it. Otherwise we use Purex, and it seems to do the job fine.
