I Did It!!!

image
I finished the Baylor Half Marathon!

I met my goals. I didn’t walk and I even had a personal best of 2:08 (I’d previously run 13 miles around my neighborhood and it took me 2:15).

It was a really fun race. There were tons of people, the Baylor spirit squad was there and at each mile marker different student groups passed out water and encouraged the runners.

One really cool thing was that they printed our names on our bibs, so all along the way people chanted our names and cheered us on.

Thanks everyone for your kind words, prayers and great advice. (Jamie, you’re advice to try to run a faster second half was gold.)

I have lots more to tell, but I need to go get ready for a certain 1 year old’s birthday party....

One tidbit I learned from all this is that we can do a whole lot more than we think we can. I encourage you to do something to challenge yourself today.

Way to go Kat!

I’m so glad you posted--I probably will sound like a nut, but I was thinking about you and your half marathon all day!  I’m glad to hear that you met your goals--you did a great job!

You’ve definitely inspired me--hopefully I’ll follow through and get back into running form again soon!  If I do...maybe we can meet up for the next half marathon!  smile

Amy,
Thanks!

Erin,
Aww...that’s such a great compliment. I’m honored.

Kristin,
Great question. That’s one thing I really love about running. I can think. Complete thoughts. In a row.

Sometimes I think, “Just one more step, just one more step...”

Sometimes I pray. Sometimes I think through my plans for the day.

Sometimes, I just listen to music and don’t do much real thinking.

Mostly, I try to listen. I’ll pray and ask God to teach me. Running has been a really great time for me to connect with God.

Charity,
I really think you could do it. You’re such a fun and active mom. Bearathon next year?

KFJ,
Thanks! I’ve always wanted to compete in something that ends in “athon” It’s fun to have met that goal. I think that someday I’d like to run a full marathon, but that’s just not something I have time for right now.

Lisa H,
I’d LOVE to. Just let me know when!
