Husband University: Professor Jimmy Is In - Pt.2

(Here is pt. 1 if you missed it.)
As I was growing up, one of my favorite ways to remember childhood summer vacations was to listen to only one CD for the entire two week period.
One CD. Two weeks. Oh yeah.
When Jimmy married me he didn’t realize he’d married The Human Repeat Button.
Jennifer Knapp’s Kansas album was in our car for a year. A y-e-a-r.
My sweet husband who is firmly in the “why-would-I-want-to-listen-to-the-same-song-again?” camp is inspiringly gracious when it comes to my utter obsession with music.
You may recall that we recently took a 1685 mile, 25 hour car trip and we listened to…
wait for it...you guessed it...one cd.
This was Jimmy’s comment when we got home,"I’m not sure if I know how to function without Brooke Fraser’s music in the background.”
Thank you Jimmy. Um...would you like earplugs for Christmas next year?
And you, dear reader? Are you a fan or foe of the repeat button? What are you repeating these days?

A HUGE fan of the repeat button. I’m listening to the soundtrack to the movie Once. The movie was not my favorite but the music is stunning.

YAY for the repeat button! I love it. I will listen to the same album or song over and over again. My roommate in the dorms last year used to go nuts haha. Right now, I love Sara Bareillas’ “Love Song.” It’s so darn catchy haha

I am also a repeater. The thing I love about that is certain cds reminding you of certain road trips or times in your life. Bob Marley’s greatest hits always remind me of our family drive to Las Vegas and back. Elton John’s greatest hits make me thing about driving to and from Humboldt State. Listening to the Cranberries brings me back to the days when my inlaws lived in Tulelake, and we’d visit… Music powerful that way!

I am a repeater as well, although I haven’t listened to many CD’s recently. This mom stuff has really changed the quantity and quality of music I listen to...I am sad to say I often take the easy way out and flip on Christian radio. Okay, that will be a resolution for me--go back to listening to cool music!

I like the repeat button, but a year seems like ... a lot.

Not a repeat button fan, but CDs will often play again because I am lazy.
I do have some listening quirks like if I enjoy a song, I have to let it play to the end. I’m ceremonial like that as Cool Mum can attest to.

I had three CD’s for all of 2007.
All I Can Say- Crowder
Something by Tim Hughes
Something by Heather Clark
Ask me if my children know all the words to all the songs?
I hear Peace singing “All Creatures of our God and King” whenever he’s alone building things in his room.
Buck got me a The Bravery CD which is all I listened to for three weeks so far. Sad isn’t it? And he’s a songwriter…

My mom is a great lover of the repeat button, and I think it drives my dad slightly batty at times, but he puts up with it because he loves her. I on the other hand have to change CDs after the second listen-through, if not before. I can’t imagine listening to one CD on a drive as long as the one you guys were on recently!

For the last 3 weeks i’ve re-visited toby mac’s portable sounds. I’ve also been listening to Jason Morant’s ‘open’ for a while too.

I am generally not a fan of the repeat. I get bored VERY easily, so I need rotation.
But, there is one CD that gets repeat for me. Its a very spiritual CD, one that I can really identify with: Milk Cow Blues by Willie Nelson. I know, I know.
There is just something about that CD that keeps me coming back for more. I love the blues, but its something that just touches me in my soul when I listen to this CD. My wife hates it, because I play too much for her. As soon as her worship CD is over, in goes MCB. I get the rolled eyes, and the “not again” look, but I need to hear it 3-5 times a week.
I usually go from Steven Curtis Chapman to MCB. Strange rotation I guess.

I like repeat, to an extent. I can listen to music from a single artist for a day (two listens per song max). Then I’m done for at least a couple weeks. Yesterday’s theme was polka. Today’s theme is rap. I’m not sure what tomorrow’s theme will be.

It’s fun to read all the different artists that you all are listening to...hmm....gives me an idea…
