How To Make a Living as an Artist

Kevin Kelly has written a very interesting article simplifying a solution to Chris Anderson’s Long Tail theory and tailoring it for artists - musicians, photographers, painter, filmakers etc.

A creator, such as an artist, musician, photographer, craftsperson, performer, animator, designer, videomaker, or author - in other words, anyone producing works of art - needs to acquire only 1,000 True Fans to make a living.

A very interesting read that goes in to much more detail and a number of examples. Click here to read the rest of Kevin Kelly’s 1,000 True Fans article.

Great stuff.  Seth Godin had a pretty interesting article about the future of the music industry and it went along great with this.
