He’s A Trooper

Sick Baby

The Smallest Person is sick. He’s had a high fever and seems pretty miserable. We thought he was just teething, but it’s clearly something more. Poor baby.

He is seriously the sweetest little boy. I think anyone who has met him would agree. He rarely cries, he’s very, very content and loves to give kisses.

So now that he’s sick, it’s just terribly sad. He’s trying to have a good attitude, but he doesn’t understand why he feels so bad. He’s not really crying, but he makes the most pathetic little sick baby noises. It’s quite heart wrenching really.

We’ve got the fever under control thanks to some motrin, but he’ll still need to see the doctor tomorrow so I’ll have to pull out the hazmat suits for my other kids.

Doctors and Dora

There’s not much I hate more than taking my healthy kids to the doctors office. I’m always the mean Mommy who doesn’t let her kids play with the toys in the waiting room. My girls just sit there, longingly staring at the cool slide and the toys.

They’ll ask, “Mommy can we play with the cool slide and toys?”

I’ll say, “No, they’re yucky and have lots of germs that can make us sick.”

Apparently, that line right there is the universal cue for another mother to enter the waiting room and happily send her kids over to the cesspool play area.

“Mommy, how come they can play?”

I dig myself out of the nominations for Mean Mommy of the Year by pulling out the iPod and letting them watch Dora.

I’m so sorry Smallest is sick!! There are a lot of bugs going around down here as well as every else. Give him a hug from Grandma! Those pictures are wonderful - what beautiful kiddos - our family is truly blessed.

I love my family!  i will be praying for the smallest.  Um, the Small person and I make the same face around chocolate… you should start praying for her self-control.

I love the picture of the small person with the chocolate magazine--too cute!  smile

So sorry your baby is sick.  Mine was sick all last week but seems to be doing better now--terrible stuff.  I had to take all three (two healthy and one not) to the doctor, and the only one who managed to pick up a nasty cold was me!

Oh by the way, I’m the mom sending my kids to play on the germ-infested slide and cool toys!  wink

GREAT pictures!! And hilarious too!
My sweet baby is sickly too. AAHH! I hate it when they are sick and there is not much you can do!
And yes, I am also one of those mommies who do NOT let their children touch much at the doctors office. SO dont feel bad.
I wanna see a picture of your Christmas tree!

Sorry to hear about the Smallest one!  So sad.

My daughter’s doctor is opening a new office this spring since he has outgrown his current facility.  From what I hear, he is planning on having a “healthy baby” section to keep the healthy ones away from the germ-infested ones.  I think it’s a great idea.  Although, I will probably feel like I’m in trouble when I have to take my daughter and sit on the “bad side.”

I don’t understand why Doctors don’t use the same beeper thingys they use in resturaunts to let you know your table is ready. That way you could stay in your minivan and watch DVD’s without all the other germs in the waiting room.

Wow, I must have been on cough meds when I tried to spell actual words in the last post. But I still think it’s a good idea.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. It turns out The Smallest Person had an ear infection. He’s doing much much better now.

Albert/Seaton,
That’s a great idea! Although, I still think it would be novel if doctors actually kept “appointments” or perhaps they should call them something different..

Psalm8410.
Hmm...that almost makes me want to switch doctors.

Lisa H,
I hope you’re feeling better and that your baby is fully recovered.

callmeseven,
