Gutentag

Lilia, my college roommate, is in town from Germany and we’ve been staying up as late as our 32 year old bodies will allow - chatting, catching up and looking at pictures.

She is a missionary in Germany and has amazing pictures of castles in Europe and all her exciting adventures including an elephant ride in Thailand.

I showed her hundreds of pictures of my kids.

It’s fun to see old friends.

How old is your oldest friendship? I have one friend that I see weekly that I’ve known since the 5th grade. And you?

That’s easy for me.  My “oldest” friend that I still have regular contact with is Jeremy Burch.  Our families have known each other since the two of us were born.  We were in the church nursery together and enjoyed Sunday school and youth group together, as we grew up.  He’s really more like family to me in my mind.

As a bonus, Jeremy’s mom is my daughter’s science teacher, so I see her a lot.  And, of course, she’s like another mom.

It’s really nice to have people in your life that have ALWAYS been there.  Truly, I feel blessed.

My oldest friend is Tammy, we’ve been friends since we were 5!  That’s 33 years.  She’s more like a sister than a friend though.  I also have three other friends that I’ve known since 6th grade, or 27 years.  We all still get together about 3 or 4 times a year and have dinner, but I talk to them individually more often than that.  It is a blessing to have these gals in my life!  I still live in the town where I grew up, so there are many more school pals with whom I do alot of “bleacher-sitting” watching our kids play ball.

My oldest friends are Brian, Jeff, and Curt and we have been friends for over thirty years.  Also, there is John and Terry and we have been friends with for over twenty years.  Even though none of us seem to live in the same place anymore, we manage to get together a couple times a year to play cards and reminisce about the past.

My friends only go back to college (I never seemed to make any lasting friendships growing up).  We have a set of around a dozen of us that get together annually.  One of my college roommates, who was also a groomsman in our wedding, lives a mile away.  Our closest friends, though, just moved away to Tennessee in July. :(

I am very lucky to have my friend Suzy.  We don’t remember not being friends.  Her hometown is my mother’s hometown, so we would see each other every time we visited my grandparents.  It’s pretty amazing to truly have a lifelong friend.

What’s weird is that I know one of Euphrony’s closest friends because she moved to TN to teach at the university where I also teach!  Small world, huh?

My oldest friendship is with Laura, and we’ve known each other since 5th grade, which makes 15 years.  That’s a long time for me.  Sometimes we’ll go a while without talking, but when we do get together, we’re able to just pick up right where we left off.

P.S.  For some reason about 8 of your posts just updated in my feed reader (Google), so I just now saw this even though you posted it yesterday.  Odd.

A friend I still have regular contact with would be Jen, we’ve been friends since the seventh grade, when I was the new kid and she invited me to sit with her at lunch!  I have a few friends from the fifth grade that I’m in touch with occasionally.

I’ve moved around a lot in my life, and my closest friends in California are moving in November, back to AFrica. :( It’s hard to feel like you’re always starting over.

I have three “best” friends that are sisters. Miriam, Charity, & Ariel have been good friends of mine for about 10 years...since I was 8. We grew up together, dance together, went to school together, etc. I don’t have sisters, but they are my sisters.

My friend that I refer to all the time on my blog as Georgia’s Mom is my oldest friend.  Her name is Stephanie, too (hence the nickname, to cut down on confusion), and we have been friends since we were 2.  Which means I’ve known her longer than my adopted dad or my sister.

~That is awesome Kat, to be able to spend time catching up with an old friend!

~My oldest friendship is from the 8th grade, Kortney Katches.  As of two years ago, we now live on opposite sides of the country, but call each other weekly and try to see each other as much as possible.

Met my oldest friend when I was in fourth grade too.  I think we’ve been friends more than thirty years, then.

I have two good friends that I met in gradeschool (between 2nd and 4th grade).  I’m not sure how long its been, but over 20 years for sure.  It’s harder to keep up, though, now that they live between 1,000 and 1,500 miles away.  I always see them when in the same city, but there can be years in between those instances.
