Meet Your Fellow Camper: Angie

(Click here to meet more readers or click here to introduce yourself.)

1. What is your name or pseudonym and where do you live?
Angie

2. How did you find The Secret Life of Kat? Why do you read it?
Through Shaun Groves and you name sounded fun.
Then I came here and you ARE fun and we are very simular in our journeys right now.

3. What do you do?
Momx3 ages 9,4 and 18months

4. What is one thing you’d like to brag about....if you were a bragger?
I’ve lost 100lbs!

5. Recommend: 1 book, 1 musician, 1 movie, 1 blog
Books:  Anything by Beth Moore or Brock and Bodie Thoene.  I’m reading the A.D. Chronicles right now and eagerly awaiting the next book’s release!
Well, I’m old school and have a specail fondness in my heart for Michael W. Smith.  I also like Toby Mac, Casting Crowns and Mercy Me.
Movie:  Well, I usually see cartoons and I’m often plauged with High School Musical.
We did actually watch a grown up movie called Reign on Me, although very gritty (read Lots of language) it was moving.

6. What is something significant you’ve learned this year? I am the Princess of the King!  I've heard that my whole life, but this year it really seemed to come into focus what that means and how to apply that to my life.

8. Based on your life experience, what is one nugget of wisdom you’d like to share?
It’s always darkest before the dawn. . .You may not see the light of God or feel the love of Christ, but it has never strayed from you.  Call out to Jesus and He will answer.

10. How many 5 year olds do you think you could take in a fight?
Oh at least 4!

Meet Your Fellow Camper: Brooke

(Click here to meet more readers or click here to introduce yourself.)

1. What is your name or pseudonym and where do you live?
Brooke

2. How did you find The Secret Life of Kat? Why do you read it?
I got here through Shaun Groves. The title of your blog stood out to me...i mean, of course i had to see what was happning in the secret life of Kat! Now i see how cool Kat is, so i keep coming back. grin

3. What do you do?
I am a 26 year old in transition after i’ve job hopped since college. I work at my family’s VT country store in the deli/bakery, but am currently interviewing for marketing jobs.

4. What is one thing you’d like to brag about....if you were a bragger?
I have good taste in clothes, makeup, and handbags, so people always come to me for advice.

But really, who’s to brag? I should become a personal shopper.

5. Recommend: 1 book, 1 musician, 1 movie, 1 blog
Book: Anything by James Patterson
Musician: Justin Timberlake (non-Christian) Bebo Norman (Christian)
Blog: Anne Jackson - http://flowerdust.net

6. What is something significant you’ve learned this year? Always ALWAYS tithe, no matter what, and God will take care of you. I've known that growing up, but now that i have my own finances and have been struggling the last couple years moving around, quitting jobs, but not quitting my shopping habit...it's been hard to want to tithe because i still have to pay bills. But i still do, and God always comes through when you least expect it. And even when i think i can't tithe, as soon as i write the check, that fear disappears. I just know that i'm doing the right thing and i'll be ok. God will take care of you when you're faithful.

8. Based on your life experience, what is one nugget of wisdom you’d like to share?
I was in a sorority in college and was very involved with it. Being around such an awesome group of girls took my friendships with people to a whole ‘nother level. I realized how important friends are, how much we need them, and what a blessing they can be in your life. Work hard to keep in touch with friends, they love being cared for and it feels good to do it.

9. If you have a blog, what is the web address?
http://boffthewall.wordpress.com

10. How many 5 year olds do you think you could take in a fight?
Maybe two. I’m kind of a wuss and i don’t like pain. If there were two 5 year olds jumping on me i might last 30 seconds before i raised the flag of defeat.

Meet Fellow Camper: Travis

(Click here to meet more readers or click here to introduce yourself.)

1. What is your name or pseudonym and where do you live?
Travis Avila

2. How did you find The Secret Life of Kat? Why do you read it?
I was trying to find The Secret Life of Lobsters, and Google sent me here. It took me four months to realize....this blog isn’t about lobsters at all!

3. What do you do?
I sell oxygen. Seriously.

4. What is one thing you’d like to brag about....if you were a bragger?
Besides my devilish good looks and consummate charm, if there was one thing I would brag about, it would be my humility.

5. Recommend: 1 book, 1 musician, 1 movie, 1 blog
Purity of Heart is to Will One Thing, Kierkegaard
The Quiet Man
Seth Godin (http://sethgodin.typepad.com/seths_blog/)

6. What is something significant you’ve learned this year? That North isn't always the direction I'm heading.

7. What is your favorite quote or verse?
“There will be absolutely no asking about whether you were entrusted with much or little, whether you were given many talents of silver to work with or whether you were given a hundred-pound weight to carry. But you will be asked only about your faith and about your faithfulness.”

-Kierkegaard

8. Based on your life experience, what is one nugget of wisdom you’d like to share?
Things take time.

9. If you have a blog, what is the web address?
http://www.avilafam.blogspot.com

10. How many 5 year olds do you think you could take in a fight?
I tried this out at a friends birthday party. I took out three on my way to the punch bowl. If I were backed into a corner, that number could easily rise to four or five.

I inherited my great-aunt’s 1981 pale blue Chevy impala.  It had a CB radio, so my hs friends and I could talk to truckers, and when my sister got stuck with (I mean, inherited) it, she named it Stella, after a story involving someone’s post-creamation ashes that I only heard third-hand.

You asked.  smile

Well, I’m originally from the UK so you may have never heard of this, but my first car was a 1981 Triumph Dolomite 1850HL. Pageant Blue with tan interior and wooden dash etc. Actually it was a bit of an old man’s car, but pretty fast, great handling and cheap classic car insurance. I loved it.

My first car was an ‘88 Toyota Tercel named Gus-Gus(yes, like the mouse from Cinderella).  He was very good to me for 248,000 miles.  And then, he made me feel unsafe so I had to say goodbye.  And, not that anybody cares but, for some reason my brother also named his stomach Gus-Gus.  It’s not a large stomach so the name thing has always puzzled me.

A 1987 Camaro, white with T-tops.  Those T-tops are expensive to replace when they get stolen.  I know.

A blue 1991 Ford Festiva - my parents bought it for me (as a total surprise) when I was working at YWAM Denver and had NO MEANS to get a car. They bough the Festiva, parked it in the driveway of the house I was sharing with 9 other girls, and asked me to come outside for a minute. I think it took me at least five minutes for it to sink in “a car? but.... but..... whose is it? Mine? What do you mean?” I loved that little car and kept it till it died in 2004.

I had an old white volkswagon rabbit.  I LOVED my little car and only got rid of it when I got married and my husband convinced me that a convertible was not a practical winter vehicle in Montana.  wink

My first car was/is LaToya. She’s a gold-ish ‘99 Toyota Corolla. My parents bought her for me from a little old man who was a snowbird and only drove her to church and the grocery store. She only had 15,000 miles on her. I’ve had her 4 years and she’s never given me any trouble at all, and at 59,000 miles I should get several more years out of her. Just got the windows tinted and everything. haha...I love my car.

1978 Ford Fairmont station wagon (red).

And I’m not as old as it makes me sound. (I was born in ‘75.)

I drove The Beast from 1992-1994. Pulled into the driveway one afternoon and POW! She blew up. Never started again.
