God Bless Jimmy

Jimmy gave me a wonderful surprise today.
As he was headed to the gym, he asked The Smaller Person if she wanted to go along. They left about 5 minutes ago.
The Smaller and Smallest People are both napping.
DO YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT THIS MEANS?!
I am, for all practical purposes, home alone.
That hasn’t happened since 1932.
There are typically 5 people in our 1500sf house 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
There is always someone hanging on me, asking for this or for that.
Daylight and solitude are never used in the same sentence.
Until now, baby.
What will I do?
Here are some options:
1. Eat as much of my kid’s Easter candy as possible in 50 minutes.
2. Sit and play on my computer.
3. Clean the house.
4. Take a nap.
5. Sit down, read a book and drink a cup of tea.
6. Attempt a complete thought.
The world is my oyster, friends.
What would you do?

If I had free time to do whatever I wanted right now, I would take a nap.

I would feel like I had to clean, but I’d want to just read or nap. Enjoy!

I would probably go for the nap!!!

of course i would get sucked in to the computer, with the intention of quickly jump on and then off. and then i would plan to read a good book. ALONE. on the couch.
but 50 minutes later the fam would walk in and i would still be glued to my mac after eating a weeks worth of calories in easter candy. and angry that my 50 minutes were gone.
so what’d ya do???

Funny! So what did you end up doing?
I always think longingly about napping or reading a fun (totally unnecessary) book, and then I use the time to catch up on cleaning or laundry.
And sometimes I waste time on the computer reading fun blogs!

nap me please

Amy,
I suppose you’re employer would probably look down on that…
Isn’t it awful when you want to nap but can’t? And, invariably, then when I can sleep I don’t…
TIA,
Well, I didn’t read a book, but I did drink tea. It was yummy tea - Barney and Sons - Bangkok. So good.
Kristin,
I always feel like I should clean. I’ve started to just make myself clean for a bit and then I feel better about relaxing too.
KFJ,
Well, then I hope you get a chance to nap tomorrow!
Randel,
Are you me or am I you, because that is EXACTLY what usually happens. Today, though, I did actually jump on and off and got a bit of cleaning in too - just enough to alleviate any guilt in regard to the amount of time I spent on the computer.
Lisa,
Well, I drank caffeine so that I wouldn’t need a nap, I cleaned so that I wouldn’t feel guilty about spending the rest of my time on my computer.
It’s really amazing how much cleaning you can get done without little people around trying to undo everything.
Deemus,
I never could really take a nap. I always end up grumpier.

SLEEP! With a 2 1/2 year old and a 7 week old, sleep is at a premium. I would just lay down and nap!

Sadly, I know I would clean.
