Drag Racing Diva

On the way back from my doctors appointment (all is well with the baby and we find out whether we’re having a boy or girl on Dec. 4), I was sitting at a stoplight in my minivan when two “good ole boy” pickup trucks pulled up on either side of me.

As we waited for the light to turn, they sat there staring at each other and revving their engines (I think they’d been racing). For a fleeting moment I thought about revving my engine, too. I didn’t do it, but the thought certainly made me giggle.

However, when the light turned green and the trucks took off, I found myself slowly yet deliberately accelerating my 3.8L V6, 250 horsepower, 253 lb.-ft. torque, DOHC 24 valve engine (I have no idea what any of that means. I just copied it from the Hyundai website).

Without appearing to be intentional (I think), I reached other side of the intersection first and they may very well still be choking on my suburban mom minivan dust…

I know...I know...I need professional help.

But it was fun.

Admit it, you went with the optional racing strips on the minivan.  And you bought it from dealership that also sell stock cars.

I’m picturing Better Off Dead, with the gloves and helmet stashed in the seat beside you.

Yeaaaah, that V-6 is mighty powerful.  Will do about 110 with no problem, and you’ll often find yourself in the 80mph range without looking on the freeway....

...that’s what I’ve heard.

Euphrony,
Actually, we picked the tricolored flames on the front...and we didn’t buy it from a dealer, we bought it from a guy named Spike.

“I want my two dollars!”

Ryan,
Since I spend most of my time going through school zones, I can only confirm that it will go 0-20 pretty stinkin’ fast.

I’d ask what it’s like to go 110mph, but clearly you wouldn’t know…

Right?

Cach,
More like Dani-Kat Patrick. Sorry...that was really awful.

Yah cat I’ve heard it really pushes you back in your seat, and the V6 even has decent accleration at high speeds....

I think I’m going to chuckle about this all day. Now I need to go try to get some work done…
