Clocky - The Alarm Clock That Runs And Hides

I know that not everyone gets to be awakened in the morning by the sounds of sweet children singing. So, for those of you for whom waking up is a chore that is avoided at all costs and as a results sends you scurrying through your house in an effort to get to work on time, I present the ultimate alarm clock:

Clocky
The alarm clock that runs away and hides when you don’t wake up. Clocky gives you one chance to get up. But if you snooze, Clocky will jump off of your nightstand and wheel around your room looking for a place to hide. Clocky is kind of like a misbehaving pet, only he will get up at the right time.

You can even buy clocky in shag. (Yes, it is actually shipped to you with a nice brown shag carpet cover.)

Do you need clocky? On a scale of 1-10, with 1 meaning that you jump out of bed chipper as a chipmunk 1 minute before your alarm goes off, how well do you wake up in the morning? While you’re at it, what time do you wake up? (Just ‘cuz I wanna know.)

I used to be a morning person, but now that I have kids, I find I go to bed MUCH later and consequently am less than eager to wake up in the morning. I’d say I’m about a 5 on the morning person scale. We wake up between 6:30 and 7:00.

I’m definitely a 10!  I tend to stay up way too late because I’m more productive at night, but I have to get up at 6am to be at work at 7ish (meaning usually around 7:30.)

Okay, busted!  My son was watching me type this and he said I usually don’t get to work until 7:45ish...he’s right.  wink

When do I get up physically, or when am I actually lucid in the morning?  Huge difference.

Rick,
Funny. True, but funny.
When you’re vertical and have broken the power of inertia.

I find I’m lucid rather quickly. My interrogative little girls usually have asked me about 54 questions before I’ve even gotten out of bed. Who needs coffee?

(Frankly, I do, but I won’t have the joy of caffeine for at least another year or so.)

I need to buy Clocky for an employee of mine- he works from his home in Houston, but usually requires a ‘wake-up call’ to get him started.  And sometimes he’ll drowsily say, “I’ll be on in a few minutes” and then go back to sleep.  This would be just the ticket, but I think it should also offer:

1.  A Wi-fi IP connection with parameters addressable via a web page.
2.  A web cam so I can watch him trying to hunt down the clock while half asleep!

wink

Yes, video of people searching for this thing would be quite funny.

Gee, he works from home and he can’t even get to work on time? That’s pretty sad.

I’d like to work from home...I’d work from about 10am-2pm, then 9pm-1am.  I actually have the capability to work from home, because when I take a “vacation”, they set it up so that I can still check my work emails and access our accounting software for emergency situations.  But, my boss likes the fact that he can come into my office at any point during the day with questions or projects, etc. so he won’t let me work from home unless I’m on vacation...then it’s okay.  rolleyes

He’s a good employee and will sometimes work through the night.  He’s just not a morning person I guess!  Back when I used to have an office and he used to live nearby, he worked at the office, and that didn’t work out too well, as the others were always upset with him being late.

Now that we are all working from home (sorry Cristy!), I figured I’d hire him back as it wouldn’t cause such a scene!  Of course, they still see him offline on IM, so…

I love it, looks like something from Battlestar Gallatica.  My daughter could use one of these, but I myself am such a light sleeper I hardly ever use one.
