A Great Way to Start The Weekend

Last night my nocturnal teradactyl (aka my newborn son) only woke up twice to eat and slept soundly between feedings. It was wonderful to get a good night’s sleep.

This afternoon, all three of my children were napping at the same time, again, so I was also able to get a little nap in.

And right now, my son is sleeping and I’m sitting here in the backyard blogging and enjoying the gorgeous 70 degree weather while watching my girls have fun in their sandbox.

What a lovely and relaxing day.

(Update - it gets better...my husband just “got home” from work and he’s now chasing my girls around the backyard with the garden hose. This is top quality entertainment.)

(Update #2 - I just doused him with water, thinking that I was safe from retribution because “surely he wouldn’t douse the sleep deprived mother of his children who is recovering from major abdominal surgery.”

W-R-O-N-G. The girls thought it was really funny, though.

We’re all wet and cold now and about to dry off and enjoy some yummy soup a friend brought over for us.)

(Update #3 - When I went in to feed The Smallest Person and my husband went in to get supper ready, we thought the girls wouldn’t get into any trouble during those few unsupervised minutes.

W-R-O-N-G

They’ve used the garden hose to fill the sandbox and they are now “swimming” in mud.

Bathtime anyone?)

How was your day? What are your weekend plans?

Oh my gosh I feel like an idiot--you wouldn’t believe how many times I’d wondered how you were doing and when you were going to have the baby, etc. etc. and I had no idea I had let my blog reading lapse so long.

I mean I know I’ve been bad about reading the past couple weeks--I’ve been crazy busy and haven’t had time to do hardly anything--but have I really been THAT bad???

Congratulations!  Wow, how wonderful and exciting and terrific--he’s adorable--I had to go back and read and read and catch up. smile

And by the way, I told Andrew about QuickSilver and he downloaded it right away and has been playing with it.  Not quite sure how it all works yet, but he likes any new toy.

So congratulations on your son.

That’s funny. You must have thought I was really ready to pop by now…

Thanks for the congrats Michelle!

Tell Andrew that Quicksilver may seem confusing at first, but it’s seriously the coolest thing about my Mac. Without leaving a program I can look up any information on my computer, add info to another program, open or move a file, browse my photos or itunes library and do about a million other things. I haven’t even scratched the surface if what it can do.

Here’s a link to a pdf guide to using Quicksilver.

"nocturnal teradactyl” ha ha ha....
The sandbox swimming pool sounds so fun, yet not so fun to clean up after!

We started out the weekend planting a rose hedge with my dad, playing outside, trying desperately to ignore the drops of rain, and attending a birthday party with a chocolate fountain… I know, yummy.

My weekend plans have included dodging raindrops and cold weather (in Memphis! In April!!!) while running errands and cleaning house.

So very jealous of being able to play in the water hose.

So very jealous.

And I know the game is over, but....

It is so hard to read about Kat playing in the hose when49 is the temperature outside right now.

Steven,
I’m sure you won’t be jealous once August hits.  You’ll probably have nice balmy temperatures while I’ll be cooking dinner on the driveway.

I also am having a hard time resisting the urge to make a sentence out of the captcha words.

Here goes:
The high yesterday was 65. The high today79.

We thought we were the only ones who referred to our newborns at pterodactyls. I thought it was pretty accurate at times. Funny the things we call our kids, huh?
