A Little Challenge: Fashion Faux Pas

I can blame no one but myself.
I have no fashion sense.
Sadly, yesterday’s picture is not the worst of it. No, my friends, it was just the tip of the iceberg.
The things I wore in Jr. High and High School are truly frightening.
It’s not that the things that were in fashion back then were bad, it’s that *I* wasn’t in fashion back then and I just came up with these weird little personal trends.
A Sample
Purple fedora hat. Lime green pants. Pink, black and white rugby shirt. Army gas mask bag for a purse.
Those aren’t highlights, folks. That was ONE outfit.
Here is a photo. You will laugh. Or perhaps cry.
It’s On
So, what were you’re worst fashion faux pas?

OK, I’ll go first!
Well as I mentioned before on my blog, I was so into the one hit wonder KRIS KROSS.
One of their main ways to express themselves was to wear their clothes backwards.
Im afraid to say it, I did too wear my clothes backwards at times. Seriously- not cool.

I admit it - I wore horizontal striped shirts. Oh, the shame!
I’ll come back later and try to get Mrs. E to elaborate. She could talk all day about my fashion “sense”.

A bright orange polyester jogging suit in the 7th grade. With double black stripes down the arms and legs. I looked like a skinny pumpkin. I thought it looked awesome when I convinced my reluctant parents to buy it. The unrestrained laughter coming from the rest of my P.E. class convinced me otherwise.

3rd Grade
Black and white checkered Vans and a big belt buckle that said JIM.

I have some vague memory (that I’ve tried to supress) of a powder blue, polyester leisure suit and platform shoes from somewhere around the 5th or 6th grade. Yes, I’m that old.

Stirrup pants! I had about 5 pairs, in shades like hunter green and burgundy and blue. I also had this silk color block blouse that I loved to wear, and it had shoulder pads. I was in the seventh grade. I cringe just thinking about it.

I have no idea. I try not to pay attention to fashion… and to be honest see nothing abnormal about what you wore when you were younger. When you see some of the clothes young girls wear today that bespeak a lack of confidence and self-respect, I think it’s obvious that things could have been much worse.

ha ha ha! too funny…
I was really into matching colors, and went way too overboard with it.
I was also into sewing my own clothes, and hats with big silk flowers on them, those were all interesting outfits!

Kat, I’m not sure what to say about that last pic. WOW. The hat? The pants, OK with a different shirt.
I may never view you the same again…

Bell-bottoms. Yeah, I’m old. Shut up.

I had these flannel orange/red/yellow plaid, pleated and pegged pants in 8th grade (early 80’s.) I convinced my mom to buy them even though my dad said I looked like a clown in them.
I also had poet blouses in every color in the early 90’s.
