I’ve been brainstorming a bit more about this topic and I’ve come up with a bit more organization. I’ll still be covering all the topics I wrote about yesterday, but they’ll all be included in the following sections:

WEEK 1: ORGANIZE AND IDENTIFY
For this first week we’ll ask some foundational questions on which the rest of our planning and marketing will be based. We will:
-Identify and define your music
-Identify your audience
-Identify your short and long term goals
-Identify the tools needed to take action on those goals

WEEK 2: ACT AND ACHIEVE
This week we will discuss ways to take action on some short term and long term goals. The focus here will be to fully utilize the tools, contacts and audience that you currently have.

WEEK 3: BUILD AND PROMOTE
Here we will discuss various ways to grow your audience and increase your exposure. We’ll also look at ways to network and build your contact database.

WEEK 4: REVIEW AND REVISE
This week we’ll establish a plan to keep everything organized and we’ll discuss in depth any additional topics that have arisen.

My ideas are simply ideas so to balance my theory with actual proven methods that work, throughout the series, I will be posting interviews with various indie artists in which we’ll discuss marketing plans that have worked for them.

I’m having a lot of fun thinking about this series and doing research for it, so I hope at least a few of my thoughts will help or inspire you. Along the way, please, please, please feel free to disagree, ask questions and offer your suggestions.
