(First of all, let me apologize for the sporadic posting lately. Taking care of a newborn and a 2 and 4 year old has been a bit crazier than I had anticipated. I hope to be back to regular posting in a week or two...when I remember what sleep feels like.)
One way I’ve stayed awake during those early morning feedings, has been to watch movies on my iPod. That quickly got expensive, so then I started to check out video podcasts.
In doing so, I discovered a podcast series from the former teeny bopper band, Hanson. The series is called Taking The Walk and it chronicles the process of making their most recent album. It’s very well filmed and produced. Each podcast is about 10 minutes long.
Another interesting video podcast from Hanson is a version of their documentary “Strong Enough To Break.” This documentary was filmed during the making of their last album on Island/Def Jam in 2001. The film is broken up into 13 podcast episodes and is a very interesting and intimate look into the darker side of being a label artist.
Hanson has now started their own label 3CG records and is releasing their new album “The Walk” on April 30th.
Creating a video podcast for either iTunes or Youtube or, ideally, both - is a great way to get exposure and create interest in your music. Before watching these films, all I knew about Hanson was that they sang a song called Mmmbop. After watching the series, I’m pretty interested in their new release. Watch the podcasts, and I think you will be too.
