How To Gain 250+ RSS Subscribers In 1 Week

Things have been a bit quiet around here. Sorry about that. I’ve been busy getting things up and running over at my new blog Inspired To Action.
And….
Week One
Wow! The response has been incredible. In ONE week, the blog has over 250 subscribers. There have been an average of 30+ comments per post and the mailing list has grown to over 2,500!
Needless to say, it’s all pretty exciting. The best part though, is the feedback I’ve gotten. Women inspired to spend time with God in the morning, exercise and plan their days, moms praying daily for their kids and a community of readers encouraging one another.
The Point
I think there are 2 reasons the blog has been so successful:
1. I’m truly passionate about the topic of the blog.
I desperately want to be a great mom. Inspired to Action has been a wonderful outlet for me to flesh out ideas and thoughts. I love being surrounded by women who desire the same thing.
Having an early morning routine has been one of the biggest and most beneficial changes I’ve made in my life. I love that blogging allows me to help other women adopt this life changing habit.
When you’re passionate about something, it’s easy to write about.
2. I don’t care about the numbers.
I admit, the numbers are fun and affirming, but as I wrote in the welcome post, I’d rather have 10 people who respond to what I write and make positive changes in their lives, than 100 readers who just move on to the next blog in their reader.
I have a folder in my email program from people who have taken the time to write to me and tell me about the wonderful things they’ve accomplished after reading the ebook and the blog. It inspires me every day to write well and focus on the people – not the numbers.
My Inspired To Action Twitter bio sums it up well:
If I’m not writing things that make you take action, then I need to stop wasting your time. Yeah, I’m all serious like that.
Are you blogging about your passion? What is one thing you could teach others?

Your passion for the subject is what draws me in. Personally, while I loved reading the e-book, I also know myself: I am not a morning person. I have fought this battle for years and heaped on guilt about why I can’t get up in the mornings and do all the spiritual things that spiritual people do.
A few years ago, I decided to make peace with myself and quit trying to be someone else. I’m an uber-productive person during the day, and I look forward to and enjoy my times of Bible reading, journaling and prayer before I go to bed (when I’m actually awake to comprehend it). Plus, my stage of life (with young children and a husband who travels a lot) makes getting up AND being alone almost impossible. So why was I fighting this battle of condemnation?
I guess what I’m saying is—your passion for a topic that doesn’t even apply directly to me personally is still exciting enough for me to be inspired by it. We aren’t the same. But how boring would the world be if we were?

Also, your subject is applicable to many people.
yes, I am blogging about my passion. If it wasn’t my passion, I couldn’t keep it up at the pace and the amount of time cultivating the community takes. But I love it most of the time, I’m touched by how writing about books is really writing about life and amazed constantly by how much I’ve learned.
Great job Kat! I’m glad you found a niche you care about.

I like your point about not caring about the numbers. Since I’ve started my blog, I’ve worried about the numbers more than anything else.
The really ironic part? I work in an office that cares more about the numbers than anything, and it makes me want to escape that environment. This post just made me realized how insane I am, in a good way though lol.
Thanks for the post!

I’ve been trying slowly to go to bed earlier and wake up earlier, but it’s so tough right now with a baby. It’s contagious when you’re passionate about something. Everyone else will be drawn to it too.
