Possibly The Most Gorgeous Song You Will Hear In A Long Time…
This song has been on repeat for WEEKS on every musical device I own. I listen to it every morning and let it inspire me and challenge me every day.
I LOVE the fact that this song echoes in my house. I still can’t believe she sang this right here in my living room last weekend. God does the coolest things,
Here’s JJ Heller singing Only Love Remains (I really wish I’d been able to record from the beginning…):
(RSS and Facebook folks, click here to watch the video.)
Here are the amazing lyrics:
Scenes of you come rushing through
You are breaking me down
So break me into pieces
That will grow in the ground
I know that I deserve to die
For the murder in my heart
So be gentle with me Jesus
As you tear me apartPlease kill the liar
Kill the thief in me
You know that I am tired of their cruelty
Breathe into my spirit
Breathe into my veins
Until only love remainsYou burn away the ropes that bind
And hold me to the earth
The fire only leaves behind whatever is of worth
I begin to see reality
For the first time in my life
I know that I’m a shadow
But I’m dancing in your lightTeach me to be humble
Call me from the grave
Show me how to walk with you upon the waves
Breathe into my spirit
Breathe into my veins
Until only love remains
What songs have earned the repeat button for you?

That’s beautiful. Wow.
Josh Garrels’ entire album “Jacaranda” is on repeat but I think “Words Remain” is my favorite track.

Nichole Nordeman’s “River God” is one of my all time faves (along with Watermark’s “Captivate Us”…it’s a toss up depending on the day) but for the past seven months I’ve been constantly listening to and humming “You Are For Me” by Kari Jobe. I discovered the song when I was 7 monts pregnant with my son this past summer and it was the only thing (along with chomping on ice) that callmed down my CRAZY braxton hicks and anxiety.
Love this song you posted by JJ. I wish Christian radio stations played songs that have raw lyrics like this.

JJ Heller and Josh Garrels are both fantastic inspirations!
Currently, I’ve got Jillian Edwards on repeat… thinking the song “July and June” specifically because I am commiserating with my family who is snowed in with no power in Iowa… and because I love summer and the promise it holds… and because her lyrics are so clever.

This song(Only Love Remains) and your other recommendation a few weeks ago the C.S. Lewis song by Brook Fraser! These two songs just run over and over again for the last few weeks! Thanks for introducing us to such lovely artists, with such reflective, powerful and inspiring words!

This song and All I Need have been constants for me since the concert. So good. So, so good. And yes, Tiffany, CS Lewis song is one I frequent often. Kari Jobe’s, “My Beloved” is one my spirit thrives on, as well. I love music.

Hi Kim! Waiting for THE call.
Iamgold – That’s a gooooood one. The title of the album alone is amazing. The song just makes it that much better.

Thanks for sharing that song! It is lovely and powerful!
I have been taken with Michael Card’s “Why”
(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3T74qnBqip8)Love the words: “why did they nail His feet and hands; His love would have kept him there.”
I am really out of touch with recently (last 100 years) songs though I am beginning to appreciate some of them very much…
