Truly, Parenting At It’s Finest

Update:  You all must have some serious cheering power, because UNC stomped MSU. But since UNC won, I got 1st place in Boomama’s Bracket!

Around our house, March Madness is a family holiday.

Every year since we’ve had kids, we’ve forced encouraged them to pick their own bracket. Here’s a short clip of each of them at the age of about 2 making their picks.

(Notice how focused the Small Person is, the Smaller Person is happy go-lucky and the Smallest Person is more concerned about entertaining his sisters. It’s VERY indicative of their personalities…)

My Moment Of Althetic Glory…Sorta

There it is. I’m currently in 1st place in Boomama‘s tournament bracket.

It proves I’m a dork, but I’m excited about it.

A soothing balm for the lingering wounds from my LAST PLACE finish in Cachinnator’s Fantasy Football league a couple years ago.

We’ll see what happens tonight. There may be a ticker tape parade tomorrow here at TSLOK.

If you’re watching the game tonight, focus your cheering power on UNC. If they win, we win.

Do you get into March Madness? If not, what’s your sport?

LOL… that is so funny.

I used to do a bracket in high school.  Picked the teams based on uniform colors or mascots.  smile

I’m not into it, now.  My sport, though, is probably skateboarding.  I could watch that for hours.

Ha! My method of picking my bracket isn’t much more scientific than yours.

One of my fav all time sports moments was watching Tony Hawk pull the first 900 – I loved how all the other competitors put the competition aside to be a part of history.

Very cool.

Do you skateboard?

I love March Madness; it’s pretty much the only sporting event I care about.  This year my bracket has done terrible, though.  I was basically out of contention after Memphis lost, and it went downhill from there.

Kat,

Do I skateboard…. lol… no.

I had a skateboarding friend in college tell me once, “Girls can do lots of thing really well.  Skateboarding isn’t one of them.”

It was super funny, and it convinced me to leave the skating to the guys.  Besides, it’s much safer being one of the groupie girls. smile

But yes… Tony Hawk is amazing.

That was hilarious.  Oh, my word, I laughed so hard at the Smallest Person.  I mean, “with the Smallest Person.” smile

I’m very excited about your BooMama win.  I’m winning my department by so much that no one can beat me, and I’m very close to winning a Snuggie in the Cool People Care competition.  Woo-hoo!

That video was adorable.  What he lacks in enthusiasm for filling out the bracket, he makes up for in his enthusiasm about hammering!

And YES, I get into March Madness, but I lose interest at the point in which I start losing miserably.  This year I did okay.  I’m trailing you in BooMama’s bracket (aren’t we all though!), but I might just might edge up a bit if Mich State schools UNC.  So off I go to root them on….

congratulations – we are a march madness family, but I won’t admit to anyone outside of the immediate family just how poorly my “picking” went – I still feel loyalty to “my school” … UMD … and my picks only got worse from there.

Oh well, it kept me up past 9 o’clock!!  Enjoy the “thrill of victory”!!
