Me And My Pinnochio Push Ups – The 100 Push Up Challenge: Week 4

(For more info on The 100 Push Up Challenge, read this.)

This week’s routine was pretty easy compared to last week, but next week…frightens me.

Naming Push Ups…

I’ve named my push ups! (I know you care…)

I refer to them as Pinnochio Push ups. If I was a slightly dishonest Pinnochio – they would be perfect “nose and toes” push ups. As it is, I’m on my toes, but my flat little Filipino nose maintains a very safe distance from the ground.

I’m going to finish this 6 weeks doing my Pinnochio Pushups and then I’ll try the Challenge again attempting doing real “nose and toes” pushups.

I’m going to join in, but am really out of shape, so it’s going to be wall push-ups.  :-(

Going strong.  Week 4 here, I come.  (It actually looks easier on paper than week 3 since there’s really no increase in the number of push-ups at a time.)

You actually try to touch your nose to the ground? Um…I find this sort of odd, since that’s not how push-ups are described in any of my fitness/trainer books, nor on the military websites I consulted. In fact, usually you want your head to either be in line with your shoulders or slightly above your shoulders; you wouldn’t want to bend your neck down in order to touch your nose to the ground. When our students try to do this in class (e.g., “If I bend my head down towards the ground, maybe no one will notice that I’m not really bending my arms enough and bringing my chest close enough to the ground!”) they usually get a fussing.

So I’m confused…

Rebecca,

I don’t actually try to touch my nose to the ground (I’m a bit of a germophobe so I think that would be quite gross), I just really like naming things (although I didn’t come up with this name) and I think “Nose and Toes” sounds cool. grin

It also provides a visual for my goal of doing push ups that bring me a little closer to the ground than my “Pinnochio Push Ups” do…

Week 2, here I come.

When I started I could do 2 push ups and now I can do 6.

Yay!

Kat and friends in arms (hehe, get it?),

Week 4 kicked my butt visciously, but I am thankful for the exercise.  Although nothing drastic changed, I look and feel much better.

Yours in Christ,

Chris Livingstone.
