Parent’s University: Class Social

Welcome to another installment of Parent’s University. This week I thought we’d take a minute to get to know each other. There are two ways to participate.

The Questions

In the comments tell us:

1. Your name or pseudonym

2. Ages of children

3. (OPTIONAL) Recommend 1 parenting resource

The Poll

For those of you who don’t like to comment, I’ve made it REALLY easy to participate. All you need to do is click. Simple.

And I am in the “wayyyyyy harder than I thought choice. My two sons are awesome, but since they both have many issues that makes them special needs, our lives are incredibly hard, time consuming and crazy.

I said that parenting is harder than I thought it would be because the first time around I was hit with a ton of surprises, but once I got used to this whole mothering thing, it turns out to be not too hard after all.  (Or maybe I’ve just found that the rewards FAR outweigh the effort.)

WHat about “I’m not a parent, and your helping me.”

smile

I’ve been a nanny off and on for many many years. I know it’s not fully comparable to being a full-time parent, but I must say that even though there were some really difficult days…the good days made all the rough ones worth it all.

1. Andira (nickname) Reich

2. 5 “children” Jenna (was 4), Justin (was 2), Krista (was newborn), Parker (is 6) and Bennett (is 2).

3. I recommend GOfish music.  Young kids love it so much.  Uplifting and energetic..and enjoyable for parents too.

3.  I LOVE “Shepherding a Child’s Heart,” but since it’s been mentioned already, how about, “Don’t Make Me Count to Three.” The author uses a lot of Ted Tripp’s wisdom and makes it very relatable.

Travis’s ‘wooden spoon’ answer cracks me up!  My kids would probably have me list that too.  smile

3. I’ve read so many I can’t remember what I’d recommend.  I also bought a lot I never got around to reading.

Parenting was a lot more rewarding when my kids were younger. They were so much fun and so loving.  They still are, kinda, but now there are WAAAY too many opinions in the house.  And I’ve never gotten used to the vulnerable, your-heart-is-on-a-chopping-block feeling you get when your first child is born. Now I’m just hoping they’ll take care of me when I’m old, nevermind get a college education & marry well (meaning someone who loves God & ME!).
