Every time I watch this, I cry.
Granted, I also cry during Hallmark commercials. But that’s beside the point.
Sprinter Derek Redmond ripped a hamstring in the middle of his race, but after collapsing to the track, he began to hobble to the finish – determined to complete the 400 meters.
Then his father ran down from the stands, fought off guards and wrapped his arms around his son and together they finished the race.
Ok. I’m crying. I haven’t even watched it yet…
I love the Olympics.

Ah maaan, sniffle … that is profound on so many levels. The ex-youth pastor in me has already thought of several potential sermons…

I gotta go with the “UFO” landing during the ‘84 closing ceremonies. Ooh, and don’t forget Lionel Richie!

The best thing about that video is the music. Hilarious!

That video was cool.
Also, I like how Travis is the only commenter with a Gravatar, and I think it’s funny that it says “Stud.”

Seven,
Actually, anyone can have an avatar. Just click on the “Edit” button over there under Members on the far right column. You can add your pic there!
I need to mention this more. I think it would be really cool to have faces associated with names…

Goodness Kat, why does your blog always make me cry???
That moment is part of a commercial (for Visa, I think), and it makes me cry watching it every time.
I like the Kerri Strugg moment as well, but the win of the U.S. men’s swim team in the 4×100 m relay on Sunday was pretty awesome.

Yeah, I saw this for the first time while PERFORMING the musical Experiening God. They should really prep the choir members so we aren’t all so choked up that we cannot sing. And they should provide tissues.

I have a newspaper clip of that moment in my office. It’s been there for years and every once in a while I reread it. It’s powerful! I love the Olympics too.
